LBJ10 thank you. I’m just so worried about every little thing now.

My 4-year-old has an unknown allergy. A couple months ago,  he started sneezing. No other snuffle-like symptoms and he was shedding like crazy, so I wasn’t super worried. I just tried to keep his space super clean. But he didn’t stop sneezing. We went to my rabbit-savvy vet.  He had an examine and a nose swab. No active infection and he’s up to d…[Read more]

As the others have said, this doesnt seem too abnormal at all, since rabbits are flight animals.

You could try to ignore her when you go into the room. By that I mean try to not look straight at her, don’t approach her or offer her a treat with your hand. When an animal is in panic mode, it is basically like a wild animal and it can’t “think…[Read more]

BinkyBunny replied to the topic rabbit shortening own nails? in the forum BEHAVIOR 5 years, 6 months ago

My last rabbit, Aria, rarely needed her nails trimmed.   This was the first rabbit I ever had that didn’t need nail trims.    She was a very active rabbit even as a senior bunny.  She binkied and zoomied daily.  She liked to dig and explore.  Her flooring consisted of carpet, wood, cardboard floor in her maze and diggy house, grass mats under…[Read more]

It’s been a few days — how is she doing now?   I am hoping it was just a passing issue or just some momentary wave of loafing.   (I know I can go through that myself.  LOL)

Does this door squeak, even a little?

@Bam— I had to laugh at this — “My rabbit is 8 and he’s not interested in toys etc – but he does become very enthusiastic when I do house cleaning or sort laundry. I dont know why, but he comes running to help out every time.”

Now if he could only DO the laundry, right?   LOL

VERY cute video — thanks for sharing.     I would also steer away from twigs with sharp thorns.

Also — with RHDV spreading, be sure that IF you are wild picking any low branches, that they are not in an area of known infection.  If you are not sure or just want to play it safe, then you would need to store the branches away for 4 months as a t…[Read more]

When my rabbits shed, they seemed to get a bit more flaky during that time, so I agree with Bam, that it might have to do with the shed.   So if this clears up after the shed in a few weeks, then you’ll have your answer.   But it is something to keep an eye on.

One of my rabbits would get dry skin and lose hair  but more so in specific areas — h…[Read more]

LBJ10 replied to the topic HELP: sludge or calcium? in the forum DIET & CARE 5 years, 6 months ago

They look like calcium deposits, but probably a bit more concentrated that what you normally see. Sludge would be the consistency of toothpaste. I’m not seeing that here.

Calcium in urine isn’t necessarily something to worry about. If it seems to be becoming a problem, you can adjust his diet. What else is he eating besides alfalfa pellets? Does…[Read more]

New bunny mom here! My bunny Pancake is 5 months old, male and unneutered. He is scheduled to get neutered next week. He is active and happy. He eats and poops normally. There were two times recently where he seemed like he took longer than usual to pee. But he definitely still does pee, both in his cage and out…He has been peeing and pooping…[Read more]

It will look angry if it’s infected. Red, swollen, hot to the touch, etc. You can certainly clean up the area if you want to, although I’m sure Pinky already has. As for his belly, I’m not sure that means anything. That area would naturally be a bit tighter when stretched out.

    Thank you LBJ10.

That makes me feel a bit better. I will keep an eye on it. What would it look like if it were infected? He also has a short, crooked nail on one of his hind paws. I believe it was like that before we got him, so maybe something similar happened to him before. I’m not really sure what happened this time, his nails were trimmed a…[Read more]

I’m glad to hear you will be taking the farm rabbit home. He deserves a chance at life. 🙂

Nail injuries look nasty, but they are seldom serious. It’s rare for them to get infected too since all the blood washes any germs away. The quick may be permanently damaged, but there isn’t much you can do about that. The nail may grow back funny.…[Read more]

That’s amazing! You might not need any more stress bonding. Some bunnies do really well without it and some not so much. It sounds like this one went great!
