Humping can also be stress-related. I had a bunny that would hump when he was upset or stressed about something. I don’t know if having an ill friend would be a trigger. For my bunny, it was strange noises or something else within the environment.

It made me think or Baycox (toltrqzuril) another wormer like panacur commonly used for livestock.
Prescribed for 3 days to treat coccidia, rather than 2 weeks on a sulfa med. -

I’m assuming both boys are neutered?
How often is the humping happening, and does it escalate to anything? It does sound like it was probably triggered by the infection. Is Ozzie’s infection cleared?
If it’s not leading to fighting then I think you are safe to just monitor. Sometimes little episodes of dominance behaviors will happen in bonded…[Read more]

Hi, my 3 year old male bunny, pluto, has started randomly mounting his bonded litter mate. This is very unusual as they have never had any dominance issues. This started happening after his brother, Ozzie, had a respiratory infection a month ago and has not stopped. I thought it could be from a change of power dynamics, but it’s been ongoing for a…[Read more]

There are 4 rescues in Washington, but none are in Seattle. I don’t know how close any of these are to Seattle, but maybe one can help.
Rivers Wish Animal Sanctuary, Spokane, Washington
Rabbit Haven, Gig Harbor, Washington
Rabbit Meadows Sanctuary – Best Little Rabbit, Rodent & Ferret House, Poulsbo, Washington

How well is he eating hay? What kind of hay is it? Of course, we have to ask, have you ruled out dental problems? Dental problems, even if they are still eating “OK”, can cause GI problems because their food isn’t chewed properly.
As Dana said, some bunnies are just susceptible. We don’t really know why, but it does seem to be some kind of…[Read more]

Yes, it appears that what they prescribed is within the suggested dosage range. Still not sure what was up with the Panacur. Did you manage to ask your vet? I curious what their reasoning was or if it was a mistake.
Have you posted on the forum since it was updated? I think after it was updated, it put everyone in a new member/untrusted status.…[Read more]

The other question I forgot to ask is whether he is experiencing any pain or discomfort during these episodes of dysbiosis? I had a foster bun with horrible dysbiosis issues and the hard part was they coincided with episodes of terrible gas that caused him a lot of pain and would go through cycles of stasis and dysbiosis. He got daily cisapride…[Read more]

Unfortunately some buns do end up with chronic cecal dysbiosis. It’s possible there is a genetic component that can start to cause issues around age 3-4. Some have very sensitive stomachs and can’t have pellets (or they are sensitive to a particular pellet ingredient), but some just seem to never really get back on track. Do his healthy poops…[Read more]

Hi, guys. I am new here and just looking to see if any new information can be provided. I post around to a lot of different rabbit groups but this seems to be a topic that not many touch on deeply.
My 3 year old rabbit, male, unneutered, thuringer, has on and off cecal dysbiosis. He’s on hay and water only, and has been since the beginning of…[Read more]
