I agree, as long as the mounted bun doesn’t seem stressed, you don’t need to do anything really. Spring can def stir things up (as can other bunnies in the house, but I’m guessing you would have mentioned that?).
If it starts to get really excessive, there could be something going on health-wise with your male bunny. Sometimes bladder issues can…[Read more]

@prince dorian the bun – OMG, it was SO hot. We had to tear the comforter off the bed, we couldn’t sleep. Now it’s cold again. LOL
Everyone has such ambitious and agile bunnies. I don’t recall ever having a bunny jump into my food.

Ok, so there was minor fur pulling from the bunny being mounted but nothing serious. he hasn’t tried again since she told him off so I think we’re good for now, but as always I will monitor. Thanks for all of the help!

It happens. I wouldn’t be worried unless the humping is causing distress.

LBJ10 replied to the topic Weird Bald Spot in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 5 years, 4 months ago
Yeah, it just looks like a bald spot caused by heavy molting. The fur will start to grow in soon, it will look like velvet at first. If the fur doesn’t grow back, then you might have a problem.

Dana is right. I think you can remedy this by making some adjustments and getting him neutered.

Some bunnies suffer from “spring fever”. The changing light and temperature can cause hormonal changes in rabbits, even ones that are spayed/neutered. So it’s possible that spring has triggered the behavior in him. As long as it isn’t causing distress in your other bunny, you probably don’t need to do anything other than redirect him so he isn’t…[Read more]

Ok…. new developments. I think it is from over-grooming, I just saw her partner mount her (which I had never seen before) but he wasn’t big enough to reach the spot on her neck but since he’s going a bit wild I am confirming that it is from that. Can I do anything to stop the over-grooming? Also, why was he mounting her? They have been together…[Read more]

Hi there,
Sorry things are not going as you expected, but the good news is I think with a few adjustments you will be much happier and it will feel less like you are living in a bunny litter box.
Bunnies need appropriate housing to make things go smoothly and safely for everyone, and I think some improvements to housing will help a lot of your…[Read more]

Thank you! I figured it couldn’t be anything extremely serious since his activity level has stayed consistent, as well as his appetite and thirst. He hasn’t really been scratching that area either, just licking it from time to time since fur is missing there. But clearly there are still hairs in that area and it isn’t completely bald. I’m just…[Read more]

I think it helps her to see Elmer isn’t scared. I turned it off for tonight and although I never saw her in the litter box while on, I’m happy with the progress.
I think you’re on to something with the speed. I saw you had mentioned that previously so today I did increase to full speed. Not sure if coincidental or not that she did better today.

OMG Ellie that is a hilarious!! I’ve noticed Cooper seems very interested in wine! He really does try to yank the glass out of my hand if I let him near it (and he doesn’t do that with coffee or water!). I wonder if it’s because they sometimes eat fermented fruit in the wild? I’m now envisioning a bunch of drunk bunnies… They already act…[Read more]

That was some fast progress! Great to hear it!
I haven’t turned it on today, but maybe will try tomorrow!
Do you have it on a fast or slow speed? I was wondering if having it on faster might actually make it less scary, because the paddles would be more blurry.

@DanaNM: Hahaha, aww Cooper… He’s right though: how could anyone be on the sofa without petting a bunny? Priorities, people!
Breintje has found a super tickly spot as well: on the inside of my wrists. He continues to lick them to wake me up, and it’s impossible to ignore it because IT TICKLES!!! I think it is to get my left hnd open, because…[Read more]

Did you try turning yours on today?
I turned the one in their room on late this morning right before I gave them lunch. She actually came out and ate and ran around the room a little, but quickly retreated back to the futon. I went ahead and left it on all day until about 6 hours later to make sure she would come out and eat hay. Turned it back…[Read more]
