DanaNM replied to the topic Fleece vs Fleece Liner – What's the difference? in the forum HABITATS AND TOYS 5 years, 4 months ago

I wonder if the liners sold as cage liners (like for guinea pigs) might be double layered to give them more structure?

I usually just buy fleece fabric by the yard and cut it to the size I need.

Don’t give up! It sounds like you have made progress, but are just in a plateau. It’s really good they can spend 12 hours together and aren’t fighting!

What is your bonding space like? Sometimes experimenting with a new location, changing the size of the space, or doing a stress session or two (like a car ride) can help you get out of the rut.…[Read more]

That’s a good point Elle. It wouldn’t hurt to check just to make sure. Although it isn’t unheard of for a neutered bunny to display the behavior the OP described, it isn’t a bad idea to rule out other possibilities. It may also be important to note that the adrenal glands can produce some testosterone as well… which could indicate an issue there.

Nothing to worry about, my bunnies do this sometimes as well. Does he also get a lot of hay? I didn’t notice it in your list of his diet, so he might be craving fiber.

DanaNM replied to the topic Nipping or Biting? in the forum BEHAVIOR 5 years, 4 months ago

That nipping is the precursor to mounting (he loooooves you :p ). All the unneutered buns I’ve been around are crazy nippers! It should get a lot better once he’s neutered. I agree that the squealing tip works very well in the meantime.

DanaNM replied to the topic Is my bunny's relationship with my cat too rough? in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 5 years, 4 months ago

Agree with others, that is too rough. A young bunny is especially easily hurt, and remember that cat’s only play 1 game called “hunt”. You need to teach your cat what is and is not allowed with the bun. I would have a squirt bottle on hand, so anytime he even considers using a claw or tooth, he gets a squirt of water to the face. I agree with…[Read more]

I’m happy to hear you’ve separated them. Females can get pregnant as early as 12 weeks old and may not show any signs of pregnancy until suddenly babies appear in the litter box… (real life example… !).

I’m sure they will go back together easily once they are spayed/neutered. There was a recent study from the UK rabbit welfare association,…[Read more]

Oh, dont worry, if its just about a piece of cucumber your bun will be just fine  again in a couple of days!

That’s nothing to worry about, his tummy was just not used to cucumber. ☺

I guess it’s my fault. I gave cucumbers these days. I gave a small slice of cucumber every day. I will pay attention. I gave a thin slice of cucumber as a reward. But when i saw soft poop twice i panicked. 😔😔😔😔 but my bunny poop is 99 percent normal. I’m still very sad, i wish i never made a mistake.…[Read more]

We would be very grateful for pictures! By watery, do you mean brown stains on his bedding, or do you perhaps mean sticky poop? (If you have trouble uploading pictures, pleade PM me or another leader and we’ll help!)

If your bun has round and normal poop as well as these loose stools, its generally not considered true diarrhoea. True diarrhoea…[Read more]

Agree with the others, it should be fine but I would have her locked up somewhere safe if possible. You know they’ll take an opportunity like this to wiggle their way to an electrical cord and try to burn the house down. 😉

Hi, i have a Holland dwarf rabbit, 6 months. I’ve been seeing changes in my bunny stool sometimes for a few days. Watery diarrhea looks like poop but is dry. But all it other poop is normal. If my bunny is pooping 300 then only 1 of them looks like that. Does it have a problem?

It can be a dominance thing, but I wonder about the rest of their behaviour. Does the male rabbit still spray and mark as well?

I read an article yesterday about rabbit puberty and read about a rabbit who had a third testicle which hadn’t dropped. It was found inside his body, and still produced…[Read more]
