Azerane replied to the topic Fleece vs Fleece Liner – What's the difference? in the forum HABITATS AND TOYS 5 years, 4 months ago

My understanding is that a liner is specifically made with an absorbent layer in between outer layers of fleece. Very common in the guinea pig world.

Personally I just use plain fleece fabric and just fold it in half so it’s double layered.

I don’t like pee pads. He has access to them but unless it is very cold or raining he goes out to potty. He’s actually gotten to where he loves going out and will stand at the door and howl if I go to slow getting my other 2 dogs ready to go out.

Its actually a good sign she seems mad and offended. Is she taking the treats? Does she move her legs normally?

If she is just angry and scared, she will forgive you. Rabbits do that. They can be miffed for a few hours though. I’d try not to fuss over her too much, but keep a close eye to make sure she’s physically alright.

    Sometimes we have to…[Read more]

I have two bunnies, who run around my room everyday.  I normally scoop them up like footballs to support them to keep from scaring them, but this time she jumped away and I tried to catch her before she fell. My bed is up pretty high, so I was worried the fall would hurt her. I grabbed her back, like how you would scruff them but lower close to h…[Read more]

We saw an opthamologist for her cataract after our regular vet, he mentioned EC but didn’t think it looked like an EC cataract, which of course doesn’t mean it definitely isn’t one. He said that one eye was unusual as well (age related are usually both eyes or shower onset) but in terms of overall eye health otherwise there was nothing to be…[Read more]

I didn’t mean that I would bring her in for days at a time, just for a couple hours every few days. I’m not sure if that’s unhealthy.

I am simply not allowed to have her in the house overnight, nor am I allowed to let her free roam at any time. It’s not my house so that isn’t anything I can change. I do plan on getting her vaccinated in the next…[Read more]

    Update

Shadow had a tooth extracted and some trimming on Saturday morning. The vet said his tooth was loose and they had to extract it. Since then he is feeling a lot better. He no longer dry heaves or drools. I’m glad they figured out what was wrong with him. They also took out the mass on his cheek. I chose not to send it out to the lab since…[Read more]

Hi Azerane! The sudden cataract in one eye is suspicious. Have you considered EC? Weight loss is a symptom, it just isn’t something normally think about. Drastic weight loss can be caused by other things, of course. Since there is no loss in appetite, you think of more sinister things like cancer.

Yes, that squealing tip is very good! There are more tips about rabbit body language on this site: http://language.rabbitspeak.com On that site they advice to do the same an offended rabbit would do: squeal, turn your back to him a little and look over your shoulder. That says: I’m upset, but you can still make it up! Present your hand for licks…[Read more]

Oh, and there’s even more! Sorry that I got carried away a bit, I normally would have edited my first post to add these. Bas and I are both Geminis, and Breintje is a Leo.

Hehe, Breintje’s one seems to be spot-on:

“Like their sign, the lion (a fire sign ruled by the sun), Leo pets are confident, fearless and a bit vain. They love to be pampered and spoiled and are always vying for the spotlight. Quite popular among other animals and people, Leo pets are actually fiercely loyal to their owners. Pet astrology warns…[Read more]

Keep in mind that you can’t move her back and forth between outside and inside if the temperature difference is more than 10 degrees Celsius (17 F), otherwise she will be at risk of respiratory illness. Also, her coat won’t develop properly for either environment if the difference is too great. Also, RHD is spreading rapidly across the US,…[Read more]

Hello!  I’m sorry it took so long to get a reply — I’m not sure if you’ll still see this but I’ll give it a shot!

It could be a few things: hormones as she’s right around the end of babyhood?  Babies are way braver and more cuddly, on average.  Our Teddy came home at 3 months old as a cuddly little baby and like 3 days later became a sullen te…[Read more]

    Hello all.

Luna is about 6 and 1/2 years old now. About 3 weeks ago she suddenly developed a cataract in her left eye. That all checked out and doesn’t need treatment but she is of course now blind on her left side. At our first appointment for the cataract (the day after it appeared) she was weighed at 1.95kg. She normally weighs 2.4-2.5kg so…[Read more]
