Mom will most likely do everything that needs to be done. Keep the area calm and quiet, and make sure she has lots of food (hay and some extra pellets) and plenty of water. And yes follow up with a vet and keep in touch with the rescue.

The best assessment would be going to a vet who can safely and professionally assess if there seems to be something wrong with the ear. It’s not uncommon for a rabbit bacterial cold to require a longer course of antibiitics. If you havent seen any improvement at all in 2 weeks, it could be that the antibiotic you got is not the right kind for the type of bacteria that are making him ill.

Depending on the bun, sometimes they do really light sedation, but sometimes they don’t need to do it at all. Bun Jovi had one a couple months ago and it was a very quick process!

@Azerane, unless I read incorrectly, Cookie passed away a couple months ago.

The SD HRS often has megacolon buns that they place in permanent foster care (“sanctuary” foster), so the society will cover all the medical expenses etc. It seems like they usually they do pretty well with a motility med twice a day and some diet modifications.
