I dont think you need a heating blanket.. I would be more worried about them overheating, but maybe a towel or regular blanket in a regular box? It’s very normal for new bunny moms (and actually all bunny moms) to make their nest very last minute.

At the rescue I volunteer at we had a surprise litter in a litter box a couple months ago……[Read more]

oh, these links are very helpful I just gave them a read and the only thing I need to figure out is moving them into a box with a heating blanket since she gave birth to them.. behind the box and only “pulled” fur for about 30 min before the birthing started! We have 6 Babies! I would add a photo but it says I can’t add media so maybe I will…[Read more]

Mom will most likely do everything that needs to be done. Keep the area calm and quiet, and make sure she has lots of food (hay and some extra pellets) and plenty of water. And yes follow up with a vet and keep in touch with the rescue.

Usually rescues like to put babies in foster care anyway (rather than being in a shelter environment), so they…[Read more]

The best assessment would be going to a vet who can safely and professionally assess if there seems to be something wrong with the ear. If you visually are seeing “stuff” there, that’s a good sign something is up. Head shakes can also be a head “binky”. Also, rabbits do scratch their ears, as a normal behavior, so if it’s not happening very…[Read more]

I’m sorry to hear about this sudden development. Unfortunately the nature of Binkybunny forums means we don’t have many people experienced with handling litters. Here are some resources that I hope can be helpful:

Hey all so I rescued a Bunny last night that was very .. heavy and was guessing she might be preggers. I contacted my local rescue right away to see if they had any room for her but as of this moment have not heard back.

Right now as I type this she is giving birth in my closet! so Help!? what do I do for these little ones I don’t want anyone…[Read more]

Hi, I have a 6 week old bunny name Oliver who loves to run around and get hyper. But i have recently noticed whenever he does get his zummies, he tends to shake his head and scratch his ears. I did some research, and others say that it could be cause of an ear infection. Would anybody be able to tell me if this is just a behavioural thing, or…[Read more]

It’s not uncommon for a rabbit bacterial cold to require a longer course of antibiitics. If you havent seen any improvement at all in 2 weeks, it could be that the antibiotic you got is not the right kind for the type of bacteria that are making him ill.

I think you should consult with your vet. If you call them and explain the situation, it…[Read more]

My little Peanut has been sneezing and wheezing recently even after 14 days of antibiotics. He doesn’t have any mucus, but i don’t want him to suffer with breathing. What should I do? 😄

Depending on the bun, sometimes they do really light sedation, but sometimes they don’t need to do it at all. Bun Jovi had one a couple months ago and it was a very quick process!

The SD HRS often has megacolon buns that they place in permanent foster care (“sanctuary” foster), so the society will cover all the medical expenses etc. It seems like they usually they do pretty well with a motility med twice a day and some diet modifications.

I don’t think people necessarily knew the buns had the problems when they dropped…[Read more]
