Yes, rodent shavings correct picture. Rodent sawdust is used widely in Turkey. I’ve never seen what you said before. No compressed toilet paper in Turkey. But i found the pine pellet, the price is cheaper. Rodent shavings yes polluting a lot,  but i use it because it is safe. Is pine pellet really safe for rabbits??

Wood shavings are safe, but they do tend to make a mess because it gets everywhere.

Since I’ve only had him for a month he hasn’t been to the vet yet but I will be taking him soon. He was on timothy hay so I recently switched to orchard grass which he enjoys more.

Hi, I’ve only had him for a month but I had been feeding him 1/4 cup but he wouldn’t eat much hay so I decreased the pellets to 2 tbsp to increase hay intake which worked out.

I know cat litter is poisonous to rabbits. I am using it, actually i am satisfied. But sometimes shifts the shavings as my bunny jump. I’m afraid of using cat products. I can’t add a picture.. I wanted to show the product i use. You can search on Google by typing in Turkish “kemirgen talaşı”

Of course you did a good thing! Unfortunately, that is just what the laws are in some states. There may be some vets that are willing to look the other way. The trick will be finding one. It sounds like you might have a lead, so that’s good.

Yes. Thanks for the responses. That is the tough situation I’m dealing with. I’m not sure it is legal in my state to have a wild cottontail. I’m not worried about “breaking the law” though. I’ll second the homemade insecticidal soap.  But you have to apply it when you see the bugdy, usually in the evening.

As for slugs, leave out a pie plate filled with beer.

He’ll just be sore. He’s had invasive surgery, things will be bruised and sore, not to mention the cut at the surgery site. Give him a week and he’ll probably be back to normal 🙂 I’d say it would hurt to stretch out that way.

Yes, it matters where you live. Many states do not allow wildlife to be kept as pets, including cottontails. Some other states do allow it… but these are the states that pretty much allow people to keep all kinds of exotic animals as well.

I’m going to agree with Dana. He may not be getting enough. He’s only 6 months old, so (as a dwarf breed) he should just be reaching his adult size. Then he should continue to “fill out” between 6 and 9 months or so. Are they adult pellets or a junior formula?

In many states they aren’t legal to keep as pets so you may have trouble finding a vet willing to treat. In which case if she does need medical care, handing over to a rescue is really in her best interest so that she can get the treatment she needs. I heard it had made it to Montana. Georgia is still a long way away. You think it will spread that fast? I hope not! I did notice a pin on the map in Florida though, but it appears to not be linked to wild rabbits in that case. Still… that’s scary.
