A few days after a spay is much too early IMO. I do see a lot of recommendations for 10 days, but a lot of it depends on the technique the vet uses. In your case, I think as long as she is wearing the shirt and has her staples in, her exercise should be restricted.

Oh I see, yes the smells of the other rabbits could upset things for sure, especially in a new bond. I would be very careful about washing hands after handling the babies etc. When the new bunnies hit puberty be especially vigilant.

I’m a little confused on the timing, do you mean the spats have happened occasionally over the last week, or over…[Read more]

Oh wow, i haven’t heard they should be caged for 14 days, thats so long 😳 some bunnies run around after few days or week 😳

At the rescue we keep bunnies on cage confinement for 14 days after spaying.

As hard as it is to see her cooped up, I wouldn’t let her roam a room yet. If she zoomies or binkies she could pull a suture (there are internal ones too that need to heal).

Bun Jovi does this tons. I sometimes try to sneak my arm under his face to see if I can get some grooms but nope, he just likes to groom the floor. 🙂

Did you ever find out what was wrong with your bunny? Mine is doing the same thing but no sign of mites

It’s never happens daily, it has only happened randomly. It actually first started when a friend of mine and I started a small rescue and I now have 2 babies at home in a separate room away from my bunnies. The little spats started happening when my mom held my boy bun after holding the babies and my girl started chasing him, I threw a towel with…[Read more]

Buns do this. It’sprobably some sort of grooming reflex. Rabbits are hard wired to groom other buns when they feel good and relaxed. They can lick a pillow or a crinkly tunnel (I had a bun who would groom his crinkly tunnel daily) or your hands or arms.

my bunny does that too, i don’t think it has any particular meaning to, it maybe he’s just marking the territory or maybe he’s so used to doing that he started doing it automatically ><

I just heard back from the vet about her xray. No masses, which is good. Kidneys etc are definitely fine going by xray. Her lungs are good too, there is some concern with her heart. She said in terms of size, her heart should be an 8.5, but it’s a 9. Meaning she has mild increased heart size which could possibly be due to heart disease/failure…[Read more]

When my girl bunny was spayed, the vet reassured that I could pick her up the same day. After the surgery, the vet said she wasn’t eating or pooing/peeing despite support feed and gut motility meds, so he wanted to keep her overnight. Unfortunately, like your vet, there would be no supervision. He strongly recommended against bringing her home.…[Read more]

I agree with Dana. Same thing happened with my buns when I was bonding them. At some point they stopped fighting/humping and seemed to get along, minus the occasional nip and chase. They aren’t 100% bonded yet. I basically spent more time with them together and tried to prevent them from nipping by saying “No” loudly and firmly just before they’re…[Read more]

I’ve seen my bunnies do that. I think they’re either licking their hands or licking the fabric that they’re lying on. Maybe your bun is licking the carpet because he likes it.

Well they gave her a cone to wear for ten days but i couldn’t do that so i gave her a shirt. She needs her stitches removed so until then I will leave the shirt on.

She would like to go out of her xpen, can i let her free roam in one room or is it too much? I saw some bunnies free roam on second day after spay but some were kept in cage ten days…[Read more]

They are both. You can apply it before going out. Just remember that rabbits can metabolize these faster than other animals. So you may need to use it more a little more frequently than the directions indicate for cats/dogs. However, this will also depend on the bunny.
