Bam replied to the topic How do I prepare Frisee lettuce ? in the forum DIET & CARE 5 years, 3 months ago
Oh yes, sorry, a head of lettuce is the leaves that are attached to the stem.
Buns are as a rule naturally suspicious of new food. It can take several tries before they decide to have a taste of a new veg, but once they do, they will as a rule decide it’s yummy.
In order to waste as little lettuce as possible, its wise to only serve small bits…[Read more]

LBJ, that resonates, thanks.
DanaNM, I see your point. It does seem like an appetite issue — today I woke up a few hours later than usual so he hadn’t gotten oats for a while, and he still hadn’t eaten much of his normal food. He can get to most of it over the course of 24 hours, but he doesn’t seem as into it and that did predate the o…[Read more]

He’s pretty laid back with other bunnies. I think it wouldn’t have taken long for him and Joey to bond. He’s more of a do whatever you want as long as I get treats kind of bun.

Thank you for the reply and for the article. This bunny is a blue and I thought the same as I know of genetics and before I noticed this issue as it’s coat came in I hoped it wouldn’t have issues. Seems my fears have become a reality. As a side note it’s a lop eared. I’m just waiting until the appointment rolls around and pray I get the answe…[Read more]

Congenital deafness is not well understood in rabbits. It could be tied to certain color/pattern genes, but there haven’t been enough studies on it. They know a lot more about the relationship between color/pattern and deafness in cats and dogs. This is an interesting article: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4672198/
It mentions the…[Read more]

One improvement maybe? His ears seem to be warming up. He is definitely having pain and I have maxed out his pain medicine.

I’m not sure that the bunny vet is available on Fridays but I’ll give them a call. But yeah I can imagine it’s easier as the injectable is 1% and the paste is 1.87 if I remember correctly. Just not sure why they would give me an injectable to give orally rather than just… use it as an injection the way it’s supposed to be.
Either way I hope it…[Read more] -

I’ve been holding him in 10 minute intervals on an electric blanket and he seems comfortable I know electric blankets can be dangerous. He’s more lethargic than he has been with other episodes. My bunny is Frank Junior, he’s almost 10 years old, his diet is predominantly fresh things from the yard and garden, he eats lots of fresh grass, and other…[Read more]

Hi All,
I’m absolutely at a loss with my rabbit’s current stasis episode, and looking for some guidance on where to go from here. My almost 5 year old Lionhead has been battling stasis for over a week now. She gradually slowed down eating over 2 or 3 days, and then went into full blown stasis. She’s had 3 setbacks over the last week where she…[Read more]

We have a Goffins cockatoo that loves country music, which I cannot stand. His previous home must have played it. Sometimes I let him listen for a few moments, but that is all I can stand!

I’m sorry your bun isn’t doing well. 🙁
If you can keep him warm, on top of the other things you have available, that will help keep him stable until you can get to the vet, because pain can cause rabbit’s temps to spike and then drop. You can wrap a warm water bottle in a towel and place it near him, so he can cuddle it if he wants.
Keep us…[Read more]

Also, sorry for the many many typos. I would fix them but I can’t seem to to find an edit button on my phone. So, I apologise. Honestly, I’m doing several things at once while trying to take care of this wee one. So again, pls excuse the typos.

Reminds me of my dog. When she was very old, she didn’t want to eat anything except for cooked chicken. Things don’t taste good when you’re old.

1 – Chewing is a very natural rabbit behavior, so it’s likely he would chew any liner you use. Someone recently posted a way to potentially overcome it with cord protectors: https://binkybunny.com/forums/topic/cord-protectors-to-make-rabbit-not-chew-pee-pad/
2 – Wood stove pellets are common and popular. I use it and it does not “clump”, but the…[Read more]
