I’m sorry to hear about what both you and your rabbit are going through. My Wick recently broke a finger on his front paw, and being a free-roam rabbit, yes, it is upsetting for us owners to keep them on cage rest, but Wick is now healed up and good to go over a month later.

Some things I did to help Wick (though arguably he seemed totally fine…[Read more]

Is there a rabbit-experienced vet (exotic vet) you can set an appointment with asap? Sometimes if you call an exotic practice and say it’s an emergency, they can try and squeeze you in. It seems like your rabbit is going through recurrent episodes which need more serious attention and assessment, which your emergency vet may not be…[Read more]

I would recommend separation and maybe doing a light refresher of bonding between them if it’s so severe that there are fur chunks ad chasing that’s escalating. In addition to spring, perhaps they are going through something that has caused the bond to be tested a bit?

He’s still alive but no improvement. Is there anything else to do?  This is so heartbreaking. The emergency vet here can’t draw blood on rabbits and may not be willing to see him at all. I can try.

I’m sorry your bun is going through this. His capacity to clean his rear end  eat his cecotropes as they energy is dismissed due to his legs being bandaged. You will probably need to help him with his personal hygiene until the bandages can come off. As your vet says, sticky cecos are likely a result of changes to his eating habits and lack of…[Read more]

I forgot to add, Thursday was Dory’s (my Eclectus parrot) 5 year gotcha day! Hard to believe it’s been 5 years. I bought her a bunch of toys but haven’t put them in her cage yet.

You absolutely need to get your rabbit to the vet, at the very least for some basic wound care and pain killers. Rabbit ears are highly vascular and blood loss could be a very serious issue.

I’m sorry for your loss. I’ve been through this, it’s really hard. Of course you are going to feel guilty, but take it as a learning experience and know that you will do better next time. We all make mistakes, and of course our animals shouldn’t have to pay for those mistakes but sometimes accidents happen.

    I found that it wasn’t until I adopted…[Read more]

Yeah learning bird calls is extremely key to ID’ing species.  Some birds can only be differentiated by the call.

I can go on a walk and record 40 species but I might only see 30 of them, the rest will be calls only. It also makes it much easier to find different birds, because a different call will stand out. This actually happened to me…[Read more]

My bonded male rabbit has been pulling the hair out of his bonded mate during spring/while mounting her. It was innocent seeming at first but he’s pulled out almost all of the mid section of her back hair and even chases her into corners as she tries to get away which worries me. These are 8 year old rabbits who’ve been bonded and fixed since bab…[Read more]

Awesome, can’t wait to meet them!

Convinced Hubby to go for a sister for Walter.  She’s in a dog crate for now, so hopefully the bonding goes quickly.

Ugh I was scared about that hah. I am already transitioning into an adult pellets.

It’s okay through the day she doesn’t beg but when it comes to evening it’s horrible at 6:30 i give her greens with some pellets and at 11 before I go to sleep i give her some pellets too. This was the routine. But now she will sit in front of her bowl at 9 pm too…[Read more]

    Hi everyone,
I hope you can help me with some of advice. Last Monday I woke up to find my bunny Cocoa limping on his hind leg 😔. I took him to the vet and he has fractures on both of his hind legs, mainly his toes. I feel so bad for him. We have no idea how it happened!! He’s a rescue so I’m not sure how old he really is but we’ve had him to about…[Read more]

Thanks! I’ll probably stick with the 3rd cut and oat hay for now then, or I may not get through the Timothy before it gets bad. With 3rd cut not having as high fiber content I was a little concerned, but they way they are eating like crazy also makes me worry less.

I have a REW too, and it makes me especially happy to have adopted one that other people overlook so I’m super happy you picked one too!! I didn’t realize they weren’t popular until they asked me if I had a problem with a red eyed bun. They had to repeat the question since I was confused 🙁
