RnB started the topic Lost an incisor? in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 5 years, 3 months ago
Hey all,
I had an annual check up for my rabbits and one if them (Brimrose, almost 6yrs old) is missing one of his bottom incisor teeth.
The vet said there’s no dental issues or health issues he noticed.
I’m a bit shocked, since his last checkup 2 years ago his teeth were just fine. I’m curious how he could have lost it? Any ideas? Has this…[Read more]

Sometimes obsessive humping is stress-related. My vet recommended melatonin for this and it seemed to work. Do you think your male bunny could be stressed by something?

I’m sorry for your loss. I remember your photos of him from when he was tiny. Such a beautiful boy.

These don’t break up like that. They are pretty hard. I’ll pick up some of the Oxbow and gives these others as a treat for the piggies. Thanks.

I have made a snuffle mat for my bun. It’s easy to make, and he does seem to enjoy searching for his pellets in it!

Aww congrats on 5 yrs! You’re right about the little brown birds, at least in my part of USA. I am thankful for the app as I don’t see myself being a super avid birder.. It’s really cool to know which ones are hanging out/hiding in the backyard! I agree, the more I get familiar with the most common ones, the easier it gets to pick out ones I…[Read more]

Susanne replied to the topic 3rd Cut Timothy Hay in the forum DIET & CARE 5 years, 3 months ago
This is all reassuring, glad to know I don’t have to get more hay and get more meticulous with mixing in varieties. They haven’t yet been prone to any dental or GI issues and they get regular checkups so I’ll adjust if anything comes to light. They are getting a little less pellets too and really stuffing their face with this hay, so that makes…[Read more]

Susanne replied to the topic Would this be feasible? in the forum BONDING 5 years, 3 months ago
Yeah, I think since she was bringing in foster rabbits for the speed dating she didn’t want me to get there and not be interested in those. Unfortunately there must be enough people that don’t want them she felt like she needed to ask. Sad. Not that I would not want them anyway, but at that point my only concern was that Elmer liked her!

I was thinking about that rug they have to sniff to find a treat haha is it good?

Haha! She reminds me of my betta fish. He was VERY good at acting like he hadn’t eaten in weeks, even if I had JUST fed him.
Don’t worry though, it is good to have a bun with a strong appetite!
Maybe you could start using a food puzzle or treat ball to make pellet time more enriching and help them last longer?

DanaNM replied to the topic 3rd Cut Timothy Hay in the forum DIET & CARE 5 years, 3 months ago
I know what you mean about the fiber content. My most recent bale of hay is really soft and rich (and even has some dried clover in it, which the buns love), so I’ve been a little worried because their poops are a lot darker. But they are eating tons of it, so I haven’t been too concerned. I have reduced their pellets a bit though, because I think…[Read more]

DanaNM replied to the topic How much fruit do you feed your bun? in the forum DIET & CARE 5 years, 3 months ago
I also think that high fiber fruits, like apple, seem to be a bit better tolerated by buns (compared to something like banana that is super sweet)? Or maybe that’s just my perception of things?

I’m so so sorry for your loss 🙁
When I lost my Bunston I had thought he was improving too, and then he just crashed.
He was a beautiful bunny and the burial box is beautiful too. We buried Bunston with fennel.

The product you mentioned looks very similar to the oxbow stacks, so they should be the same as regular hay (since you can break them up to be individual strands, right?).

I’ve had to deal with this a bit with one of my pairs. My 12 year old male bun, Bun Jovi, can go through phases of obsessive mounting.
Some things I’ve done:
- Added extra hides, platforms, and tunnels so she can get away from him, and made sure they have plenty of space to run around.
- Had Bun Jovi checked out by the vet for urinary issues,…

So cute!! They are going to make an adorable floofy couple 🙂
Be warned, I have never seen bunnies jump as high as when they have a new neighbor next door! Especially when one bun is hormonal!
