Dana – There are supposed to be where I live during the winter, but I only ever see them passing through. They love berries, so you’ll often see flocks of them in eating dried up crabapples in late winter/early spring. Their high pitched chatter is similar to starlings.

I give a small piece of dehydrated apple every day. A very special treat would be a small bit of fresh banana.

Baby stacking cups are extremely popular around here. And yes, you can put pellets between the cups for extra fun. π

I do enjoy seeing the bond between two rabbits. There is just something so sweet about it. πΒ I agree, you can’t base how she would do with another rabbit on a single experience. It isn’t unusual for two rabbits to show aggression when meeting for the first time. If you’re serious about finding her companion, it may be better to let her pick out…[Read more]

Dana makes some very good points. Since you had a bad experience, you should have a talk with your vet. Ask them how many spays/neuters they perform on rabbits and what their success rate is. If you’re not satisfied with the answers, then it’s time to look for a new vet. And yes, it’s definitely better to do the spay now instead of waiting and…[Read more]

Not sure how old it was, maybe a couple hours as it happened while I wasnβt home. The vet confirmed itβs not blood. Thank you for your help everyone and I apologize for my neuroticism. 😅

I’m very sorry for your loss. πΒ I understand your concerns, it is scary anytime an animal goes under anesthesia, especially the first time, and even more so if you’ve lost an animal during a procedure before.
Since you already know the benefits of spaying (in terms of reproductive cancers especially), I think the best I can offer is to tell…[Read more]

I would definitely get a second opinion and some detailed imaging of her head to make sure extractions are necessary and will help the problem. I would personally only remove healthy molars as a last resort
Here are some trusted sources about molar…[Read more]

I know already that the overwhelming answer will be yes, and I’m leaning towards spaying but I want to get some opinions before deciding. I have a 2 year old female purebred bunny, and are thinking of getting her spayed so litter training can go easier, to prevent cancer in the future, and to stop some hormonal issues. I previously had a Holland…[Read more]

It is not uncommon for two rabbits to be initially aggressive upon meeting, especially if it was within one of their territory, though it happens in neutral too– so don’t take a single interaction to define your rabbits response to all rabbits! That is why most rescues will do “speed-dating”, which is exposing your rabbit to others, one by one,…[Read more]

It is very rare that I would give my rabbit fruit .. I might give her the teeniest tiniest square of apple if im having one and she hasnt had any in a while. Its probably less than once a month and it really is a negligible amount, probably a piece the size of a tic-tac. Shes not a banana girl, takes after her owner in that regard lol.

I made a post a few weeks back about my rabbits dental history which some of you may seen.

Vicky replied to the topic Begging for food in the forum DIET & CARE 5 years, 3 months ago
Yeah here where I live are not much things for rabbits so i try to do them myself or buy stuff which are for dogs or cats.
Do your bunnies have these baby stacking cups? I have bought a lot of toys for her but she is not interested in them at all so I’m scared to buy anything else haha

Ben begs all day long and I’ve started giving in to him but in a way where I’m winning but he thinks he is. I go to the hay container, grab a handful of hay and hold it above his head and he excitedly picks out the best piece π So I get to see him begging adorably, he gets a “treat” and we’re both happy.

I’m sorry your bun is going through this. I think its unlikely they’d catch bacteria in the lungs with a cotton swab? It is however true that fungi sometimes grab the opportunity to colonise tissues when antibiotics have done their job and killed the bacteria, which is why humans often get yeast infections after a course of antibiotics.
I second…[Read more]

I don’t have any experience with respiratory issues, hopefully someone else can chime in on that. I know that nebulizing is usually a good way to go though.
