I would also add that the types of veggies may be an issue. If your bun is having digestive issues then I’d dial back the variety in her diet. I like to stick to something like Romaine that’s got water in it and is easily digestible. I may even run them under water to make sure your bun is getting enough. This will also help you evaluate whe…[Read more]

Pinkiemarie makes a very good point. You can wipe the bun’s nose with a compress dipped in saline.

Moving to a brand new place can very well cause a rabbit to pee outside the litterbox. Rabbits feel secure in places that smell like them, and peeing is a great way to spread that scent. It should decrease overtime, but reinforcing litterbox habits by temporarily restricting space can be helpful, some say.

I literally laughed at the holiday weekend thing. It’s ALWAYS the holiday weekend! I want to say that it sounds like you know what you’re doing! Mine also goes through periods where he seems to be heading towards stasis. He has signs that tell me when he’s not feeling well (refusing treats, running away from me, general posture, even his eyes)…[Read more]

Thank you for your response. Everyone does try and push speed dating which is such an awesome experience and great opportunity for rabbit owners. But I agree people have been (and continue to) bond bunnies without speed dating, especially since it’s not yet ubiquitous. I do feel like it depends on the rabbits personality. Through speed dating I f…[Read more]

Hi! I have a 5 year old male who is litter trained but will also randomly pee outside his litter (boys, amirite?). Im by no means a professional, so maybe others will be able to chime in. But as far as I understand, the first question is whether he is marking his new territory or is he changing his litter habits entirely? Here are my — again u…[Read more]

She wasn’t sick recently actually (she got loads of mites about a year ago, so it was a while back). It was really scary as I nearly lost her. She’s had a few tummy troubles since then, (gas) but she’s never had stasis. The thing is, we aren’t in the UK or US and as far as I know, we don’t have any rabbit-savvy vets that can deal with health…[Read more]

If she had been sick recently I would suggest getting her to the vet asap to confirm whether it’s actually diet related or not!

OMG – @pinkiemarie, thank you so much. Her diet consists of unlimited orchard grass hay, veggies, pellets, and 1 0r 2 treats per day. I’ve only recently started introducing veggies back into her diet (she got sick a while back and was extremely underweight so I stopped feeding her them), and I noticed she had mushy/liquid cecotropes way before I…[Read more]

Sorry, I replied to the wrong comment. When I say chunks of fur all over the floor, it looks like they tore open a cushion, not just 5 or 6.

Thanks Dana. Those resources were really useful. We managed to get some of the food aggression under control.
Unfortunately, just now this morning, they’ve had a full blown fight. There are chunks of fur all over the room and they both have patches missing. They’re separated now. I’m just at a total loss. I heard the scuffle from the next room,…[Read more]

I was a little surprised to see Tater doing the grooming as he’s definitely asserted himself as the “alpha” bunny. But he groomed Spud for a good five minutes.

Her Spix is part of a breeding program. I will ask if I can take a picture of him. He is gorgeous. I’d never heard of them and thought she just had a really cool-looking blue parrot. I know nothing about them other than her super long care sheet. I remember her telling me she had to have a federal permit just to own him. I will say of the two…[Read more]
