Wick & Fable replied to the topic So frustrating. URI: nothing seems to work… in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 5 years, 2 months ago
I think being frustrated is natural – no one opts into having a new cute pet and being plagued with vet visits. I think I mentioned in a previous topic of yours or a similar case that it took 5 months of treatment for my Wick’s URI, which we started tx when we got him at 8-9wo. Exact same situation as you in that I was really frustrated that my…[Read more]

Ernesto has been on antibiotics to treat his snuffles since he got home almost three weeks ago. We started with Baytril, 7 days, didn’t work. Moved on to azithromycin last Sat, still not working. I have talked to his vet. He said to keep it up more days to give it more time. He wants to take X Rays next week if this goes on. I am worried sick.…[Read more]

They can be easily trained to come. Call his name and offer a treat, play it on repeat. He’ll get their soon. I second what everybody above said. To me the collar is a big no no. Too dangerous. Hope it helps!

Update – I got the medical records.
seems like my poor Milo has had a very rough time of it – he is not 7 months as I was told but somewhere between 2 and 5. His life was pretty awful before.
Also he is intersex.
Nobody seems to be able to tell me much about this – I just have his neutering records.
I have no idea if this is why I am h…[Read more]

I am not sure if he has a uterus. I am going back and forth between the two shelters that had him and I don’t seem to be able to find out any answers. The notes say he is likely sterile and he was in a cage with another male and not to rehome as he is likely sterile.
Would hormones make him aggressive? He has not shown any signs of this – it is m…[Read more]

Sex can be a contributing factor to how easy a bond can be, but I don’t actually think it’s a deciding factor. Males can bond with males and females, and females can bond with other females.
Re: being a hermaphrodite, if your rabbit is hormonal due to the presence of a uterus (not sure if that means the hormones would be intact or not though?),…[Read more]

I feed a lot of dandelions from my yard, we don’t use chemicals on the lawn. Also if you have chemical free roses, you can feed the petals.
I think a baby carrot or two is just fine, as well as a slice of my apple. Pick one and feed every other day.
For store bought treats, look for those based on hay and have no sugar.
Leafy greens, a few b…[Read more]

A note for all the litter box tossers…
A loop of heavy duty duct tape will hold the box on the floor.

Most buns will actually come running when you shake the treat jar. Combine the trwat jar shsking with saying the bun’s name, and chances are good he’ll learn to come when called.
My bun Vilde would come running every time I bit into an apple. Rabbits have an acute sense of smell and they are, and should be, very food oriented.

Hi
I have been trying to track down my rabbits medical records since we adopted him in April. He had come from an awful hoarding situation and was one of about 289 bunnies rescued. I now realise he had an awful start to life. He is also not 7 months as I was informed but he is 2-5 years. Oh and after I finally managed to track medical records I…[Read more]

I agree with the above. The reason you’re wanting a collar is the very reason you shouldn’t have you: you don’t want to have something happen to your precious bun. I would definitely work on training to come when called. It’s not foolproof obviously but it’s an important tool. Eventually you’ll figure out their preferred places for hiding/play…[Read more]

First of all I love that his name is Kevin! Typically rabbits sprawl out when they’re relaxed, feel safe, and are happy! Every bun is different, just like all people are diff. It sounds like Kevin is pretty cam snd confident in his space, which a good thing. In my nonprofessional opinion, I wouldn’t be nervous unless he was displaying signs of ill…[Read more]

Sometimes they will get them themselves or will pull a bit to help disentangle them a bit. I have a lionhead who gets mats around his tush and back of his neck. Neck is super easy and more often than not I can get them with my fingers or a quick snip. The tush is more difficult for me. I’ve found nail scissors to be prime because they make lit…[Read more]

*Double sigh* Masha used to drag her litter box across the floor, and go potty right where the litter box used to be 😂
I cannot agree more with cleaning!
Yes Spud, you show ’em! 🐰❤️

Tater has a thing for throwing his litter box. In his pen I have a big wooden thing that holds his litter box and hay so he can’t throw it there. I absolutely hate that cage. Like HATE it. It was okay when he was a baby and couldn’t really reach anything. But it keeps him from my cat while she figures out they don’t want to play with her. I cannot…[Read more]
