Thank you for replying! I called my regular vet on Friday and they weren’t able to see him until the 12th. I called every vet that I know of in my area that sees bunnies and was unable to find one that could see him. His lip looked a lot better Saturday then it looked pretty swollen on Sunday. I was able to take him to my second choice vet ye…[Read more]

I’m so sorry for the loss of Pom Pom! It must have been so traumatic. Maybe she got scared of something, or there was a chemical on the grass? Again, I’m so sorry for your loss!

I agree 100% that you need to modify their housing so this cannot happen, and if it seems deep or split, then she should be seen by a vet. Bunnies can injure each other pretty seriously though a single wall of an x-pen.

I answered below!
We have started the week long bonding process – 😳 in hope to cement their relationship. Oddly enough Louie seems to chase Milo way more than he ever has. I will keep an eye on this. It is the reason we didn’t do an overnight last night as I had read you should wait until no chasing or nipping before moving to that stage. So we…[Read more]

We just adopted a new kitten and at the vets yesterday, I was told the kitten has ear mites and got 3 doses of kitten revolution. Bentley and the kitten has been interacting with one another for about 3 weeks before I found out about the ear mites, should I give him a dose of the revolution as well, just in case he got them from the kitten? Would…[Read more]

If the wound is uncomplicated, keeping it clean will be enough. It’s probably not much point in putting on antibiotic ointment if its on the lip, because she’d just lick it off. Inspect the wound daily.
A deep wound or a wound that splita the lip should be seen by a vet. If you are able to take pictures it would be very helpful.
You must make…[Read more]

Hi all,
I posted a question about my bun being bitten last week, everything is fine with that puncture wound, but now I think she was bitten again by her lip. We’re staying with my parents who also have a bunny but is extremely aggressive – we have that bun in her x-pen and Anise free roaming – however she goes up to the x-pen cautiously and…[Read more]

I have a bun named Cooper too! 🙂
So, it’s always good to have a back-up plan in case a bond doesn’t work out, and plan for bonding to take a while. That said, most bonds do work out, and male-female (neutered and spayed) is the most common and usually most successful combination. Sometimes you need to do more work than you planned to bond them…[Read more]

Poor Wick, I can imagine that must be so frustrating for him and you!
I think the fabric strips are a good idea, or even make them out of paper to encourage him to chew them. I was thinking you could do something similar with palm fronds or bamboo leaves (or some other safe branches), make a little hanging forest for him to nibble on and…[Read more]

DanaNM replied to the topic Re-bonding: Is it possible with aggressive behavior in one? in the forum BONDING 5 years, 1 month ago
That sounds like a good plan! And yes the thumping etc. is all because she’s upset that her territory has been invaded, but should start to ease with time. I feel like on average I’ve started to see improvements after about a week, and then after a few weeks they seem very relaxed around each other.
I think once pre-bonding is going well, your…[Read more]

Ah ok! “Floating” is the term usually used in horses when they need their teeth filed, and the points would be molar spurs. Bunnies and horses actually have remarkably similar medical needs! So that could be the source of his food issues, pain, and even the excessive grooming of his face.
I would just keep up the supportive care (pain meds,…[Read more]

We have a 2 year old Dutch dwarf, Cooper. We love him so much and he is our world. We are considering getting him a friend. I’m not sure what the best combo is (male & male, male & female). We found a potential spayed female that is 2 years old. The owner said the female lives with 2 other bunnies (1 male 1 female) and does great. Though, I w…[Read more]

My Bam spent a lot of time gnawing the bark off of apple twigs. He perfected this skill, we used the stripped twigs as kindling.
A bun can go through quite a lot of twigs, so it would require access to actual trees, and they obviously must be pesticide free.
