It is when they’re on separate sides of the pen. Since it’s only Day 2, more time like this would be better right? Or do you think beginning some short dates would be helpful?

I have a family member bun-sitting for a day the first week of August so I’m thinking I’ll keep them in pre-bond until afterwards so the change in environment doesn’t…[Read more]

I see a bunny that is looking away from you. The drain is his tail.

Eh… I wouldn’t make a habit of it. But some people feel it is OK for the purposes of keeping the bunny still for something… particularly if they have a tendency to struggle otherwise. Lesser of two evils sort of thing.

Highly unlikely. As Wick said, many rabbits are carriers and do not show symptoms.

I agree that the vet should be made aware. You want to make sure she doesn’t have a blockage.

Hmm… I’m going to guess that the temperature wasn’t the problem. Unless it was a very young bunny, of course. There may have been something else wrong with the bunny. If you feel it is a little chilly, then you can provide a house with hay or a blanket.

If it was just the timothy hay, then I would say perhaps something is wrong with the hay. What you’re describing makes me think something is wrong. As Bam pointed out, teeth would be the number one suspect at this point.

Yes, I think driving would be less stressful.

That’s so wonderful to hear! Thanks for the update. Wishing you more improvements and progress in the future for you and your buns!

By them lying by each other, is this on separate sides of a divided pen, or during a date?

Quick update! The first night, they already began lying by each other and trying to stay close to each other. We’re also working on associating them being nice and close with treats. Fingers crossed for more improvements soon 😁

Yes, cabin is not an option because I need to drive. But thank you for that information, it’s very helpful. I would not have thought of bringing metacam but now I will check that out!

I would not do airline cargo. The pressure and temp changes can be really dangerous for bunnies. I’m assuming there is no option to have them in the cabin with you?

I just drove cross country with my 4 buns (6 days driving, buns aged 1, 3, 6, and 12) and they handled it much better than I was expecting!

I would talk to your vet and have them s…[Read more]

    Hello,

I have two bonded rabbits aged 5 years and 7.5 years. I am wondering if it is best for them to travel with us in the car for 4 days, with a 10 hr drive the first day, 6 hr boat ride in the car overnight, and approximately 7.5 hours of driving each day for the next 3 days. We have found some pet friendly hotels and will bring a x pen so…[Read more]

I’m so sorry for your loss. I’m happy that you got to experience her love and presence for 12 years. I also try to focus and think only of the happy times and the love he gave me. I never imagined my sweet boy would leave me after 7 years. Never fathomed the possibility of it and it happened so suddenly. I try to not think of those last two days…[Read more]

Dental problems are a common cause when a bun starts being picky with food. Some buns will avoid hay, others may avoid pellets. Sometimes you see the bun take food only to drop it  immediately, or the bun gets excited for food and comes running for it  but doesn’t eat it.

Due to the rabbit’s anatomy  the molars and premolars can’t be seen wi…[Read more]

    Hello everyone!

Appa is a one year, fixed, Holland Lop. He was very good about eating hay and this just recently became an issue. He stopped eating timothy and would only eat botanical and oat (and alfalfa but that is only a treat). Now he will only eat oat hay and very specifically picks out certain pieces and leaves the rest. I already reduced…[Read more]

Yup. The pain is so hard. I lost my Bonny two weeks ago today. There are no days for me without tears. I miss her terribly and we will not go through this again — she was absolutely irreplaceable. Bonny was a couple of months shy of 12 years old. I know she had a good, long, LOVING life. That doesn’t seem enough for me yet. She passed while under…[Read more]
