I do not blame you for being scared! Your bunny isn’t well and you feel completely helpless. But you are doing what is best and that is keeping her at the vet until she is doing better. I’m glad they decided to begin EC treatment. The stress can absolutely cause an EC flare.

I’m feeling better and better about this tough situation with my boys. I’m now getting letting them free roam together longer and longer three times a day. They follow each other all over and end up flopping somewhere together grooming each other. I’m still supervising when they are out really will and always will since they have this habit of be…[Read more]

It’s great that they listened to you regarding EC and that they are starting treatment!
Also great that kidneys and liver are fine!
I agree it’s best for her to stay at the vets now. We want them home with us of course, but it’s scary and exhausting to sit and watch over a poorly rabbit.
As you know, EC meds often take a while before they kick…[Read more]

Good news it that her blood test show that her liver & kidneys are good. They said her white blood cells are a bit elevated and agree that EC is a possibility so she is starting her treatment for that today along with antibiotics – just to be on the safe side. Most likely gonna be staying at the vets for a while yet, but honestly as much as I want…[Read more]

Thank goodness he wasn’t hurt! Your vet seems understanding though, that is great.
It’s not fun at all to have to medicate a bun. His ear is probably tender and painful now which makes him hate the drops extra. Hopefully the antibiotics will kick in quickly so the drops don’t hurt so much when you apply them.

Oh my goodness! Poor little guy, that is very lucky he wasn’t injured in that fall!
Wishing him an uneventful recovery!

I immediately thought EC too, I hope they are willing to consider that and start treatment asap. EC is opportunistic, and flare-ups often occur when/if the bun is stressed by something else. EC is probably the most common cause of seizures in rabbits.
Fingers so very crossed for her. It must be so scary for you.

Okay so the vet confirmed my baby bunny did in fact have ear mites in his right ear.
My poor bunny had quite the weekend. I put his carrier with him in it on the vet table and when the vet opened the carrier he freaked out jumped out of the carrier and he and the carrier went flying in the air and they landed upside down on the floor. Thank…[Read more]

Just another update in case anyone’s experiencing anything similar:
She is still at the vets. They said she had an ‘episode’ last night where she appeared to have a seizure for about a minute. She had another seizure that lasted 5 minutes again this morning. She is drinking by herself and has started taking nibbles of her veggies herself, but t…[Read more]

LBJ10 replied to the topic Unusual? Backwards crawling in the forum BEHAVIOR 1 year, 10 months ago
The only time I have seen a bunny crawl backwards is when they crawl into a tight space and realize there’s nowhere to go, so they crawl backwards to get out.

Yes, I was under the impression that this was just for an outdoor play area. And, if that is your intention, then I’m not sure what you would need a hutch for. The play run should be sufficient as long as they are sheltered and you’re not leaving them out there unsupervised.

On my second free exercise time with the boys today and they are acting like a bonded pair again. They are grooming and laying together which makes me so happy. This makes me feel much better about them having to be separate when I’m not supervising because they are having the grooming and snuggles still. I’m just here to make sure they don…[Read more]

Well after 3 solid attempts at bondibg my boy and moving them in together they got into another hair pulling chasing fight. I’m heartbroken because they were snuggling all the time and grooming g each other all the time and the. Out of no where this happens. From advice I have been given I am keeping them separate in side by side pens. The pens a…[Read more]

Thanks!! I’ve now even been able to put them in the basement with the other 2 (it’s a large basement and set up very nicely for them with 2 large areas) without issue. Of course I liked them up with me, but my lease has them supposed to be in the basement, and they were chewing on door frames and wood upstairs so I feel better with them…[Read more]
