I only see two options. Much like with COVID. Except with a bunny, we all are dealing with a little animal who has no choice or control. Don’t get the vaccine. Who wants to go that route? For the entire life of your bunny? Worrying every day? Worse yet, since it’s such a hideous disease, how would anyone feel if their bunny died from RHD2.
I was…[Read more]

I have to get my one girl bunny (scotty/Scooty) spayed, but she’s already bonded with a boy bunny named lucky (I know, it was the only way to make everything work back then they had to get bonded otherwise I would have bonded after lol) it’s not the end of the world, and I have another bunny who’s paired with two (neutered, all my boys are neute…[Read more]

I’m in Europe and have vaccinated my buns since October 2016, when we first got the vaccines that cover RVHD2. (Before that we vaccinated only against Myxomatosis and RVHD1).
My buns never had any noticeable side effects from Eravac, Filavac or, last year, the new triple vaccine that cover all 3 diseases. One bun had a bit of sticky poop the day…[Read more]

DanaNM replied to the topic My bun hates being brushed in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 5 years ago
Agree with LBJ10, two of my buns tolerate brushing, but the other two I have to put on the table to do a deep grooming when they are molting. Usually they are good with just a few of these (twice a week) during the heavy molting period. They forgive me pretty quickly once they get their post-grooming treat 🙂

DanaNM replied to the topic Rabbit recovering from GI stasis in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 5 years ago
If she isn’t eating normally then I would definitely give critical care. Sometimes critical care alone can be enough to stave off full blown stasis. The rabbit gut requires food to be going in for poop to come out, and critical care has lots of other things that help a rabbit that’s not feeling well.
Recovery from stasis can be very slow, but…[Read more]

Bonny Girl replied to the topic I lost Apple today in the forum RAINBOW BRIDGE 5 years ago
Hold on to those beautiful memories of Apple — think of them often. It is what I do every day after losing Bonny. I never want to lose the “vivid” memories I have of her. A Rainbow Bridge angel took my sweet, precious, loving, intelligent baby girl on 6/23 when the vet lost her during sedation for a molar trim. There is not a day yet that I a…[Read more]

Oh, I am so very sorry for your loss. All of us here painfully know your heartache. As Sara’s mama, you knew when her life was more miserable than it was happy. I am confident you made the right decision for her. You would not want your last memory of Sara to be of her suffering when your head knew that “it’s time”. My son just recently made…[Read more]

“as @Desert_Bunny noticed with her bun, and all was normal by the next day.”
My goodness! The vaccine gave me a gender change? Nothing had changed the last time I checked! I better look again!

Sharing pellets sounds like progress! And the shoving faces to get at the food is def something bonded pairs do, so it’s great it didn’t lead to a fight.

Thanks for the tip on hay/pee pads. We are trying our hay tower as seen in the photo and it seems to be going ok. One nudge out of the way/grumble that they resolved themselves. Otherwise a ton of side by side eating. I measured there area and it’s around 17ft, which isn’t nearly as small as I thought.
I also just tried pellets in their pen,…[Read more]

Yeah we leave the balcony door open, so they can come and go as they’d like.
Most of the time were finding ourselves forcing them back in the house. And I feel really badly because I feel like I’m restricting their freedom 🙁 -

I usually use puppy pee pads all over the floor for dates. You can layer them so it’s easy to just peel one off when it gets too wet.
My set up is usually a massive pile of hay in the middle of the space, so it’s big enough that one can’t claim it. I also will scatter feed veggies and pellets during bonding sessions to help prevent food…[Read more]
