    Hello! @Wick & Fable:

    1. I’ve had him for about 3 months now.
    2. I have a dog (although he couldn’t care less about the bunny), 2 guinea pigs and 2 gerbils.
    3. Yeas he is neutered. I think it’s been awhile since he doesn’t have a scar or anything from his surgery, but I don’t really know.

    4. He’s in a large playpen right now. He has lots of toy…[Read more]

I’m so sorry for your loss. 🙁

I would definitely ask them about the anesthetic level, that does seem unusual. Maybe it was a typo in the invoice?

The “snak shak” toy is very popular with my gremlins currently. The large one is about $10 and lasts a while, even with very intense chewing. It’s like this very hard rabbit-safe compressed wood. It’s kinda junk-food-ish, but it’s so hard that they aren’t eating a lot of it at once.

The willow bowls from BB also seem to last a good bit of time…[Read more]

Rabbits can become really cage-aggressive in shelter situations, but there is hope!

Is it possible for you to do the needed cage maintenance when he isn’t in his cage? And I’d also like to know how long you’ve had him.

My foster-fail Bonnie was super cage aggressive when we brought her home (that’s actually why I decided to foster her, because…[Read more]

How long has it been since he last ate, and when might you be able to get him to the vet?

Can you give him simethicone or syringe feed him a little in the meantime?

My rabbit last night was acting normal, playing, using the litterbox, eating, etc. but this morning I saw him sleeping in his litterbox, which is unusual for him and I went to go feed him and I got him some Persley, he didn’t try going for it I thought it strange but I know sometimes he won’t eat them then I went to give one of his favorite,…[Read more]

I did some research online to find out why bunnies are given a sedative prior to anesthesia, and it is to reduce stress and anxiety.  I also came across this article that states, “Pre-anesthetic evaluation is critically important and sometimes overlooked with rabbit patients and thus complications and death are blamed on the anesthesia rather…[Read more]

Hi guys Thankyou. I’ve done my best to cut them horizontally and have teased a few out with a brush. I’m taking it slow and at his pace as I don’t want to stress him out. He’s moulting quite bad at the minute. He usually does around this time of year and then around Christmas time and some of the matts have come out themselves when he’s been moul…[Read more]

yeah, that would also not be good… especially if it’s not just the hair ball, bits of grass variety.

Also when people tell me Buns are messy, destructive and too much work I can’t help but think about how gross especially some dogs are! 😀 Some cats too and cat urine is such a pain to get rid of the smell. And dogs chew almost as much as buns…[Read more]

Dorian (my bun) hates being brushed, he will hide if he even sees me grab the comb. He does get stasis from it, so it has to be done & I have taken to brushing him on a towel on a table… I can’t go longer than a couple minutes or he will still try and bolt, but at least I can get the worst of it this way. He isn’t happy about it but he does get…[Read more]

Thisis a bit tricky. Rabbits can be “cage aggressive” but still not generally aggressive.

Could you do a partition in the enclosure so that you could put in food and water (and do maintenance cleaning) in one compartment while the bun is in the other?

Another altertanive that is more confrontative, is to wear thick gardening gloves while putting…[Read more]

I appreciate you acknowledging that he’s not actually aggressive, but it’s coming from a place very instinctual for him. I have a couple questions:

    1. How long have you had him?
    2. Do you have other rabbits/animals in the home?
    3. Is he neutered? If so, how long has it been?
    4. Can you describe his environment, toys, enrichment, space, and level of…

Hello! My foster, Abi is really “aggressive”. He’s not that aggressive, he’s just very territorial. whenever I reach into his enclosure, he lunges and tries to bite. he’s actually bitten me multiple times. How can I get him to stop biting and lunging? Just to give him hay, water and pellets I have to trap him in his carrier.

People selectively breed those nicer qualities into the lop breeds so it could be that his genetic line is actually successful.

However, due to the fact that he’s only 5 months old and you didn’t mention if he’s neutered or not, I’m hazarding a guess at pre-adult lack of hormones. The main reason bunnies are the third most abandoned pet in…[Read more]

Thank you for your compassion.  Yes, I have contacted the vet.  I am waiting for a response to my email to the Dr. himself.  Bonny went in for her regular 3-4 mo. trim.  Based on a summary I received from the vet from another request I sent three weeks ago, I don’t believe the Dr. even saw her yet.  Here is the text of what i received from my firs…[Read more]

I am so sorry to hear this.  May you find inner peace and comfort knowing that your beloved fur baby is now in the arms of our creator, safe from any physical suffering.

Have tried contacting your vet and ask why they had to use a level III sedation?
