Kiln dried is fine. One of the most popular rabbit litters is horse stall pine pellets, which are kiln-dried. It is the phenol that is dangerous for rabbits. While kiln-drying does not get rid of all of it (there is sometimes still an odor), it’s a level that isn’t harmful.

My 1 year old bun has a wet tail recently. She had a wet tail one day, have a clean bottom the next day and again have a wet tail. She eats and poops and plays like normal. I don’t have well experienced rabbit vet in my country. Please help.

Yes, maybe that’s the reason for my vet’s decision. But like you said, who knows. Just hope your Wick and my Richard would stay strong and recover soon.

Thanks for sharing your experience. Yesterday I was a bit too emotional, the word Amputation itself made me freak out completely.

Besides Metacam, I also ordered the Oxbow joint support supplement (not from the vet’s suggestion, just think it may help), but Richard dislikes it, he refused to eat even with the supplement soaked with fresh…[Read more]

    No, they didn’t.

The vet told us that the joint couldn’t be put back in and we could only keep his leg rested waiting for the bones to grow and heal. I feel a bit confused now.

The vet implied that if we could have brought him in earlier when we first noticed the problem, she might be able to apply a cast or splint. Or if Richard were younger, that would also be a choice. But her hands are limited now.

Thanks for your advice. I noticed Richard is very upset with the restriction, he even eats less. I will try to keep him…[Read more]

I’ve read everywhere that using pine shaving are horrible for your bunnies health so I steered away from pine shaving liters and went with paper liter(:
But I was curious if i could build anything for my fur baby with any kind of wood so i looked it up and read some things saying kiln dried and heat treated pine wood is safe but if its pressure t…[Read more]

First, do not feel bad about the cardboard box.  My bunny ate her boxes ALL the time and never suffered GI stasis.  There was one time that she was not eating for a few hours (had nothing to do with boxes).  She would have nothing to do with the critical care.  Out of panic, I remembered that years before she LOVED oatmeal (not the instant kin…[Read more]

is been 24 hours and he hasn’t eaten by himself and I’ve been syringe feeding and I only can get to the vet by Saturday. do you think if I make him take more water and more critical care, would he be able manage to stay alive till Saturday which is two days from now on. He does run around a little bit, but that’s basically it.

I want to ensure I am addressing your questions, so I am also replying again.  I also want to thank you for your prayers.  First, however, I want to tell you how sorry I am for your loss of your beautiful Lola.  Boy, do I know the hurt.  Praise God, however, that she had you to show her love during her last months on this earth — what a ble…[Read more]

You should of course keep keeping a close eye. It’s what we conscientious rabbit hoomins do. You can even keep a diary. You can weigh yout bun weekly and note fown the weight.

If you see coloted snot-white, green, yellow, brownish – it’s an observandum. Please tell us if you do!

Thank you for your compassion and replying to my concerns.  I received a reply from the Dr., and it is posted in a reply to a participant below.  My husband, like you, also suggested that maybe the invoice had a typo.  The reality is quite different, but satisfying that the Dr. did not truly anesthetize Bonny at Level III, as described on the In…[Read more]

Thank you SO much for your warm reply and informational link regarding anesthesia — which will be very helpful to many.  I am certain you are correct — that Bonny was not fully anesthetized, yet was unable to move while being brushed … and this was very stressful for her.  My heart breaks.  I only hope that having this kind of information ou…[Read more]
