Thank you for your kinds words. It’s ironic to say that I’d always been worried about her whenever I was on vacation and dreaded it but now I miss it. I told Tootoo that one day we will meet again and I hope she understood it.

We have a connection. They both were our first bun. You are right. Tears might come unexpectedly and I tried not to mess up my makeup. I’ve read somewhere that lop eared bunnies have a lifespan of 7-8 years. Glad to find out that it is not necessary true. I do intend to adopt more rabbits and wish to have them for a long time like I had with T…[Read more]

I’m not familiar with fake grass carpets, but I probably wouldn’t want anything that might encourage the bun to chew carpet, so low pile or flat would be the safest bet (as others have suggested).

He likes to wiggle between his elephpant and bed and then flop.

Dinner outside on balcony!

He has free roam of most of the house, but it’s my room and it’s stash of tasty cables that he yearns for. I do let him in sometimes, but even if there are no wires in reach, he will find what ever books he can to chew, and then flop under the bed…[Read more]

Are they both spayed/neutered?
7 months is a bit old for a “baby bond”, but I think flemies tend to hit puberty later, so it’s possible the initial love-at-first site was due to Bertus not hitting puberty yet (if he hasn’t been neutered). Adults and babies tend to get along, but when puberty happens all of that can go out the window.
If that’s…[Read more]

I looked some of them up and a lot of fake grass carpets came up. Are those safe for rabbits?

Hi!
We are having very hard time understanding our bunnies bonding. We have a 3 year old female bunny Nasu whom we’ve had since she was a baby. About two months ago we adopted a flemish giant mix Bertus who’s still a baby, he’s almost 7 months. It was really a love at first and they slept together and Bertus kept licking Nasu’s ears, so we…[Read more]

True pet lovers are special people. We are committed to our babies 24/7. They are our world 24/7. We feel great responsibility for them 24/7. This is why the emptiness is GREAT when they leave us. What do we do with ourselves now 24/7? They lived because of the care and love that we personally gave them. Love is love — no matter what s…[Read more]

Yes, Bonny is the lop ear bun. I do not have any more rabbits. Bonny was so very special. Thank you for the kind words. Your bun is also very cute!! Bonny is the only bunny we had since we brought her home in 2009. I am sure part of the deep, deep bond we had with her was further reinforced when she became 100% blinded two years before her p…[Read more]

If you mean a lathyrus sweet pea (the kind that is grown for their pretty flowers), it is toxic, but intoxication is mostly seen when an animal has a habit of grazing on them. A little bit on one occasion will probably not harm your bun.
Acute toxicity as a rule manifest within 6 hours. Of course call a vet if your bun becomes lethargic or…[Read more]

My rabbit does a sigh type thing when I’m petting him sometimes, it ends with a high pitched squeak type noise, and sometimes I’ve heard it randomly when he is relaxing.. Maybe that is it?

Hello! An update, I’ve been giving Abi all of his food while wearing oven mitts and I think it’s helping! I just try not to flinch when he lunges and tries to bite, 🙂
I’ve moved his enclosure to the corner of my dining room, and I think that has helped. When I give him food he’ll only hop up to me and sniff my gloves. Now I just have to work on…[Read more]

I just watched the video of bonnie. Unfortunately that’s not the noise, my bun makes one singular very high pitch mouse squeak and then I don’t hear it again for a while haha.

I’m so sorry for your loss. 🙁
What a wonderful job you did with her to get her to 11, especially with the problems in her last few years. Often when a bun starts to crash, it presents similarly to a problem we’ve seen before. It sounds like you did a great job managing her pain and symptoms to help her be more comfortable, and I think it was a…[Read more]
