prince dorian the bun started the topic Sunken looking haunches in the forum DIET & CARE 5 years ago
Dorian is going through his molts and I am noticing his usual round and fluffy bunny butt is now sunken looking and his hip bones feel more prominent. I tried weighing him, and his weight is about what it was at his last vet visit. Maybe not the most accurate as I picked him up and stood on the scale. He has his usual energy levels and is e…[Read more]

The ones I found were low pile. Would that be okay?

This is so, so helpful! Thank you so much! I am going to consider your ideas for the next few days, always good to keep at it and try new things. Yesterday they had a marathon. I took them to the rescue about 1 hour away and they did fine in the car ride, at the rescue, and on the way back home. My boy even licked my girl twice during the r…[Read more]

LBJ10 replied to the topic My rabbit ate some of a sweet pea plant what should I do ? in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 5 years ago
There are some plants that are listed as being toxic to animals that rabbits can nibble on and appear to have no ill effects. There have been bunnies on the forum that have chewed on “toxic” house plants and seemed fine afterward. As Bam said, acute toxicity would manifest in a matter of hours. So if enough time has passed and he hasn’t shown any…[Read more]

Awww I love bettas! I’m sorry about Sterling. 🙁 It’s never easy to euthanize a fish, even when you know it’s the right decision. And I had a string of bad luck with them, so I know what you mean. My first I did not take great care of (in retrospect), and he lived 5 years, healthy and happy as could be. Then more recently I had really great…[Read more]

I agree. You should notice a problem (if there is one) within 24 hours.

Thanks y’all.
Not done yet, apparently. Had to euthanize one of my Bettas, Sterling.
He had a growth. Treated it a few times, but didn’t help and he had stopped eating. Ugh. He was a beautiful Silver Dragon.
Noticed tonight one of my others is very thin. He eats well and seems fine otherwise.
I’m a sucker for Bettas, but it seems that the…[Read more]

Yes, we have a strong connection to have been in the minority to see our babies live to be 11 years old. Although Bonny navigated quite well on her own, we couldn’t help but to guide her, as she would pause at various spots as she navigated about. We were just “too soft” and couldn’t bear to watch her when we saw her make a wrong turn (not o…[Read more]

Thank you for your kinds words. It’s ironic to say that I’d always been worried about her whenever I was on vacation and dreaded it but now I miss it. I told Tootoo that one day we will meet again and I hope she understood it.

We have a connection. They both were our first bun. You are right. Tears might come unexpectedly and I tried not to mess up my makeup. I’ve read somewhere that lop eared bunnies have a lifespan of 7-8 years. Glad to find out that it is not necessary true. I do intend to adopt more rabbits and wish to have them for a long time like I had with T…[Read more]

I’m not familiar with fake grass carpets, but I probably wouldn’t want anything that might encourage the bun to chew carpet, so low pile or flat would be the safest bet (as others have suggested).

He likes to wiggle between his elephpant and bed and then flop.

Dinner outside on balcony!

He has free roam of most of the house, but it’s my room and it’s stash of tasty cables that he yearns for. I do let him in sometimes, but even if there are no wires in reach, he will find what ever books he can to chew, and then flop under the bed…[Read more]

Are they both spayed/neutered?
7 months is a bit old for a “baby bond”, but I think flemies tend to hit puberty later, so it’s possible the initial love-at-first site was due to Bertus not hitting puberty yet (if he hasn’t been neutered). Adults and babies tend to get along, but when puberty happens all of that can go out the window.
If that’s…[Read more]

Hi!
We are having very hard time understanding our bunnies bonding. We have a 3 year old female bunny Nasu whom we’ve had since she was a baby. About two months ago we adopted a flemish giant mix Bertus who’s still a baby, he’s almost 7 months. It was really a love at first and they slept together and Bertus kept licking Nasu’s ears, so we…[Read more]

True pet lovers are special people. We are committed to our babies 24/7. They are our world 24/7. We feel great responsibility for them 24/7. This is why the emptiness is GREAT when they leave us. What do we do with ourselves now 24/7? They lived because of the care and love that we personally gave them. Love is love — no matter what s…[Read more]
