Ah, you updated while I was commenting. Here’s the reality of things: ultimately, if a rabbit does not eat for approaching 12 hours, that is an emergency that needs to be resolved stat. Some rabbits experience instances of gas pain (like humans), not eat, and it will pass in a couple hours. Some instances however, waiting will not help and they…[Read more]

Oh my gosh, I’m sorry too post again but my 2 females are actually snuggling after some mounting & chasing… they are snuggling!! I’m so happy for daisy too find her place into another bond. I’m crying but this time is happy tears because my girl has new bond, im still so very sad because my boy isn’t here, I know it’ll take time but grieve is a…[Read more]

“slow” is a bit worrisome. Is it perhaps a time he is usually not so active? Do you see a good amount of healthy poop in his litterbox? Will he take a treat if you offer it? Is it still cold now or is improving?

I have never heard of a cold tongue, but I imagine that deals with body temperature/circulation. In humans, it’s supposedly in response…[Read more]

Little update: I gave him a banana which is his favorite but he didn’t even nibble on it once. He laid back down and I just noticed he’s a bit incontinent. He made 3 little pee drops which he never does. I’m definitely bringing him to the vet tomorrow (it’s night time at the moment so I can’t now) but does it sound really bad?

Yes, bonded before. The most amazing thing has happened..  they are eating together, no fur pulling anymore still bowing heads & no one is giving in too groom the other. But this is amazing hopefully. I tried adding a photo but it said I wasn’t allowed. This is a good sign though, hopefully? X

    Hello everyone!

I hope everyone is doing well,

I’m writing this message because I couldn’t find anything online. I was in the living room all day to take care of my new puppy so I didn’t spend much time with my bunny today (he wasn’t alone he had my other bunny for company). When I took him, I found him a bit “slow”. He keeps laying down and…[Read more]

It’s weird that I found this post which exactly states my concern as well! In my experience rabbits eat the most throughout the night but this young bun (4 months old) that I recently adopted doesn’t seem to eat much at night. In fact he leaves his hay pretty much untouched when I check on him in the morning. He also naps during the day too. He…[Read more]

Supervised time in a pen sounds like a great idea (with the disclaimer that if you’re in an area with RHDV2 you should get your bun vaccinated before allowing time outside). 🙂

I don’t really tolerate a lot of fur pulling, but people vary in what they allow. It’s very important to prevent fighting though, so if you aren’t sure what that looks like I would interrupt. Have you bonded before?  You might review the info here if you haven’t: https://binkybunny.com/infocategory/bonding/

Thank you so much, Bam!  That’s exactly it — if the cure is worse than the disease, just like you say.

Thank you so much for your encouraging words — that means a lot.  🙂  Yes, I’ll try giving him a bit more oats (ensuring it doesn’t reduce his eating other foods).  I was giving him subQ fluids yesterday (because he’s still recovering from the…[Read more]

I agree that those who walk their rabbits are doing it more for themselves instead of the rabbit. If the rabbit’s safety and engagement is the first priority, the clear choice is a structured pen outside under 100% supervision or simply doing more engagement indoors with the rabbit.

Hi, thank you for the links to the other threads. Even though I was so excited to walk him, I think it would be a terrible idea, so I think I will just let him go outside in his pen like usual instead of stressing him out

thank you so much for replying, I was really worried why I saw the fur flying, but I read this is normal part of bonding? The other rabbits don’t fight back, they just tent too try get out of the way! Thanks again for the kind replies. Xx

DanaNM replied to the topic Will my bun hurt itself on harness?? in the forum HABITATS AND TOYS 5 years ago

The short answer is yes, a bun can definitely get hurt while wearing a harness. Harnesses can be quite dangerous if a bun pulls suddenly or gets startled while wearing one.

The safest way to give your bun access to the outdoors is to set up a portable exercise pen, and to be sure your bun is trained to return to a carrier on command (even when…[Read more]

I’m so sorry for your loss. 🙁 It is so so traumatic to have a bunny pass in front of you like that (I’ve experienced it twice, it’s horrible). It is not uncommon for a bunny to appear to seize at the end. 🙁

I’m glad to hear that Daisy is eating and pooping, don’t beat yourself up for not bringing Lola home. Since she was around him when he was…[Read more]

So I just got a harness for my bun peanut so that I could take him down the field, but I just put it on him, and every time he jumped too far, he got pulled back, and I am scared he might hurt or even break his back.

Ahhh now you were really making me want to get a tank up and running again!

I had three planted tanks before I moved (all were rehomed to friends), a 10 gal with a betta, a 4 gal with shrimp, and a 20 gal with ember tetras, some corydoras, and some sparkling gourami. I miss them!
