thank you so much for replying, I was really worried why I saw the fur flying, but I read this is normal part of bonding? The other rabbits don’t fight back, they just tent too try get out of the way! Thanks again for the kind replies. Xx

DanaNM replied to the topic Will my bun hurt itself on harness?? in the forum HABITATS AND TOYS 4 years, 11 months ago
The short answer is yes, a bun can definitely get hurt while wearing a harness. Harnesses can be quite dangerous if a bun pulls suddenly or gets startled while wearing one.
The safest way to give your bun access to the outdoors is to set up a portable exercise pen, and to be sure your bun is trained to return to a carrier on command (even when…[Read more]

I’m so sorry for your loss. 🙁 It is so so traumatic to have a bunny pass in front of you like that (I’ve experienced it twice, it’s horrible). It is not uncommon for a bunny to appear to seize at the end. 🙁
I’m glad to hear that Daisy is eating and pooping, don’t beat yourself up for not bringing Lola home. Since she was around him when he was…[Read more]

So I just got a harness for my bun peanut so that I could take him down the field, but I just put it on him, and every time he jumped too far, he got pulled back, and I am scared he might hurt or even break his back.

Ahhh now you were really making me want to get a tank up and running again!
I had three planted tanks before I moved (all were rehomed to friends), a 10 gal with a betta, a 4 gal with shrimp, and a 20 gal with ember tetras, some corydoras, and some sparkling gourami. I miss them!

Bam replied to the topic Question about molars in 12-year-old bun in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 4 years, 11 months ago
This really is difficult. It’s reasonable to think that a bun of 12.5 years does not have tip top teeth – but the question is if the “cure” is worse than the “disease”, especially since he really hates vet visits.
I think it’s glorious that he still eats as well as he does and shows interest in life and can climb his castle ☺ You could perhaps…[Read more]

Thank you all, got a huge headache & you’ve all set me off crying again with your beautiful replies. His soulmate daisy is at a loss. Good thing is she is eating, drinking & pooping. I’ve put 2 teddy bears in with her. She does go in a kitted out, outdoor shed through the day (they all do) but I just couldn’t do it today so she is in the house in…[Read more]

He is flying well high with all the support you gave him during his life with you. Getting there sooner likely would not have made a difference, so I hope you can hold on to the sadness of the passing and happiness you had with him, without feeling guilt of doing something wrong — because you didn’t.
Binky free Iola.

I’m very sorry you lost Iola. Rabbits are tiny beings with big personalities, and we miss them so when they leave us.
If he passed from a blod clot, as the vet thinks, it wouldn’t have made a difference if you’d brought him in sooner. When we lose someone that’s in our care, we feel guilt, but that doesn’t mean we have reason to.
Binky free,…[Read more]

I’m so sorry to read this. It won’t mean much now, but it helps that you were with him right at the end. He had your love and comforting presence when he needed you. Our bunnies are so delicate. My condolences.

Thank you so much, everyone! I’m still wondering about a couple of things and would love your help! They are 1) whether this is really a dental problem (I’m not sure his behavior supports that clearly), and 2) how to navigate/balance care for a very shy/nervous elderbun who typically gets stasis from stress every time we bring him to the v…[Read more]

ParsleyBun replied to the topic Don’t know what litter to use:( in the forum DIET & CARE 4 years, 11 months ago
I just use plain hay in the bottom of the box, but that is kind of bad for smelling, but you could just use a large litterbox and clean it out more often.

ParsleyBun replied to the topic Enough space? in the forum HABITATS AND TOYS 4 years, 11 months ago
I think that would be just fine! I have 2 bunnies who are 2 1/2lbs. and 3 3/4lbs. Their pen is 20 sq. feet and they have free roam time in a huge outdoor area several times a week. I would give them as much free foam time as possible though.

Wick & Fable replied to the topic Does anyone know what this is in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 4 years, 11 months ago
I know this isn’t a ‘real’ answer, but I think at least sending this photo to a rabbit-experienced exotic vet (rabbit.org/vet-listings) would be good. It really looks like a finger/toe pad, the little that rabbits have, but if it is really between two nails, it may be a growth. It’s small so hopefully not harmful and perhaps could be removed, but…[Read more]
