Poor little guy 🙁
I know that different motility meds can work on different parts of the GI tract, maybe he needs a different motility med to act on his stomach?
I second Bam that a second opinion may be in order. Did the vet give you a timeline on how long to stop things for?

Hi! I have 2 rabbits, Carrotina and Parsley, and they are 1yr. 4mo. and 2 1/2 lbs. (Carrotina)and 3 3/4 lbs. (Parsley.) they live outside under our deck in this in a 20 sq. foot DIY hutch. ➡

The hutch is predator proof and please don’t harp about them being outside, I spend tons of time with them and love them so much. The outdoor th…[Read more]

It’s normal to feel guilty for separating them. You’d feel a lot worse if they ended up having a fight and got hurt though. It’s for the best.

Okay thanks. I think I am not going to make a ramp. Just a second level. They jump onto my desk 40 inches high and back down so not to worried about them getting hurt from jumping down only from falling down. And they would be able to see the top on their back legs if it is one level high… found that out when I was bonding them and one of my b…[Read more]

I’m very sorry you are dealing with this.
The reason why painkillers were stopped is probably because buprenorphine (an opoid) slows the gut, and metacam can be a bit hard on the stomach lining.
Im not sure that you can treat impaction without feeding the bun and giving fluids. Is your vet bunny savvy? You might want to seek a second opinion.

Sorry this is going to be long, i’m just really worried right now
On saturday Morning i took my bunny Marshmallow (4y 6m) to the vets as i noticed he hasnt been eating much or pooping, and kept pressing his belly agaisnt the floor. The vet did X rays to rule out a blockage, which they said he doesnt have one and then treated him for GI stasis t…[Read more]

I think 26 inches would be too high, because it would have to be very steep, unless the ramp is VERY long.
Coincidentally my C&C cage is almost the same dimensions and I have a ramp going up just 1 level (so 14 inches in my case). The ramp does take up a lot of space (it’s essentially 3 grids long), but they seem to like using it. I think it…[Read more]

I think since you’re seeing some hormonal behaviors (mounting and circling), it would be good to separate them, but still keep them as neighbors. If they fight, it may be harder to re-bond them after their spays (not to mention one might get injured), but if you separate before they fight they will still have good feelings towards each other and…[Read more]

What a rascal! I think it can help just to have a variety of textures, and they don’t necessarily have to be soft and fuzzy, as long as they aren’t abrasive like carpet.
Paper, cardboard and seagrass might be the way to go. You can make paper mats out of newspaper that are pretty squishy and cushiony, and safe for eating/shredding. My…[Read more]

It won’t let me add a photo but it is a 5 by 3 c&c cage. Almost 20 square feet in total. I was thinking adding a 3 by 2 second level. I don’t know how the ramp would have to be. I like what you mentioned about the platform. Do you think the platform should be 13 inches high or 26 inches high? Or both?

I have a ten year old rabbit who is destroying any attempt to help alleviate his sore hocks 🙄
Nibbles (quite the appropriate name…) has chewed holes in fleece blankets, baby blankets, cushy memory foam bath mats, and anything else we put in his pen to try to help the sore hocks that are developing on his back paws. They don’t look too…[Read more]

Thank you for your help, I have had them double checked when I got them from the previous owners and they were both indeed female. They haven’t faught yet but I also don’t know when to know it is fighting. Snowball only circles when she is bored and when I let her in her playpen it stops. They normally sleep during the night when I do too.

It isn’t possible to see rabbit molars without an otoscope, due to the anatomy of the bun’s face. During a simple physical exam, a vet will only look at the incisors and how well they are aligned. Some vets test for molar spurs by gently sliding the lower jaw from side to side to feel and listen for teeth uneveness.
Vets can get it wrong even…[Read more]

Rabbits do not acknowledge family units so while being from the same litter can be helpful, it does not actually guarantee getting along through puberty. Rabbit parents and siblings do mate and fight each other when not fixed.
The safest recommendation I can make is separation, as a stranger on the internet. At the minimum, separation when you…[Read more]
