Bam – she really is pretty! Congrats! She looks big too? I am a little confused about her name though 😀

Dorian got his nails trimmed a few days ago too (well I think I got them all, it was a lot of drama). He doesn’t really hold huge grudges, but he does demand extra large piece of pineapple for his suffering. Also finally finishing off a very…[Read more]

    crazy is relative!

Do you have the space, financial resources for another bun, especially one who might need neutering? Also the desire and space to deal with possible breaks up of the trio, especially if  you don’t end up with 2 pairs then? Think of all likely worst case scenarios and if you can easily find solutions and you are still wanting…[Read more]

Ok that all sounds good about the cage, just make sure they aren’t able to nip noses through the chicken wire.

I think having them able to see each other will help them be less upset about the separation. Are they scheduled to be spayed soon-ish?

It definitely could have been the unspayed female smell. Hormonal bunnies can really set off other bunnies!

I was going to suggest syphilis as a possibility as well.

I don’t have room to set up a pen for them since when they were bonded I used all the space I could in my room. Me and my dad are trying to find a carpet for the bottom and then we are setting it fully up, so I guess that would be more neutral. We just need to find it in store since it isn’t sold online.

A treponema (rabbit syphilis) titer might not be bad to run just in case, since it’s just getting a blood sample. I have never heard of an atypical case of syphilis that presented lesions there, but the appearance of those lesions look somewhat similar to images we see for some expressions of syphilis.

    Typical…[Read more]

    Hello,

    Thank you for your help,

They can lay down fully stretched in the back of the cage. And unfortunately I couldn’t get wire mesh and I do not have a cage but I had some chicken wire that seems to work well as a replacement. They can still see eachother which makes me feel alittle better.

My bunnies have never been seperated from each o…[Read more]

    Great tips, thanks so much!

We have been swapping towels and teddies after every play date and she never minded those. I’m half wondering is it because she smelled an unspayed female off us that she went so mad? Or would she remember her old pal’s smell? Also, she’s been home alone a lot lately and I’m wondering is she starting to think she owns…[Read more]

Regardless of name, that is one adorable bun!

The bunny highlight of my month so far: Last weekend I woke up to a splashing sound and the rabbits tearing out of the bathroom. Got up to find Ruby wet and water splashed everywhere around the toilet… She had to have jumped all the in and back out 😆

The marker for parasites could be euosinophils, a type of white blood cells. It can indicate parasites or allergy.

It might be worth öooking into sebaceous adenitis, although the location of the scabbed area is not typical:  http://www.medirabbit.com/EN/Skin_diseases/Immune/Adenitis.htm

    Hello,

I’m writing on behalf of my mom to see if anyone has any experience with a health condition (described below) with their rabbit, or has any ideas as to what might be going on. The rabbit has been to the vet multiple times and has been trying a series of treatments to no avail. We’re at a loss and it seems to be…[Read more]

You could also try making a more semi-neutral space by setting up a pen in a different location and covering the floor and pen walls with some sheets so a lot of the visual and some of the scent-cues are distorted enough to be unfamiliar?

DanaNM replied to the topic not sure anymore in the forum BONDING 4 years, 11 months ago

You couldn’t set up a temporary pen somewhere? Or use the bathtub?

My other main suggestions are stressing, and rearranging the main cage so it’s more neutral as I mentioned above. There are options for stressing aside from car rides that may do the trick. Like you could put them in a basket and walk around with them. They may be able to sort…[Read more]

Sending calm vibes! And congrats on the little dude!

One thing that some members have had success with is to rub a towel on the new bun, and then rub it all over the original bun (and leave the towel for the original bun to sniff). Folks have also done similar things with “stuffy” surrogate buns, where they get the new buns scent all over the…[Read more]
