Chinese evergreens are relatively mildly toxic. They contain insoluble calcium oxalate crystals that can irritate the mucosa in the mouth and GI tract. Rabbits seem less sensitive than cats and dogs and children to this type of plant toxicity.

Push hay and water and observe appetite and poop.

Hello, my bunny somehow reached the plant on a stool and took a nibble of the leaf. I looked online and it said it was poisonous to pets. Is there anything I can do or is there something I should look at for?

    Thank you,

That helps me feel alittle bit better. 🙂

I use to put them in their playpen together too but the other day I put them in their playpen once together and thumper trapped snowball in a corner and she started squiking or something high pitched. I tried to do what I thought was best and just seperate them entirely even in the playpen…[Read more]

Thank you! He seems to be doing a lot better already. He’s come out from under the bed a bit and has been eating hay, however he is still incredibly jumpy. My biggest worry right now is that he will be traumatized be this forever. I really hope that I can regain his trust.

As for keeping the dog out, I’ve already installed a lock on the outside…[Read more]

Coccus (plural cocci) is a group of bacteria based on their shape, which is round. There are all kinds of bacteria in this group including streptococcus species. My guess is that this is simply an overgrowth of bacteria that was already in his sinuses/ears.

Be careful with the Tresaderm. It contains a steroid, which are not good for bunnies.…[Read more]

Check him over thoroughly and do your best to reassure him. I’m sure he had quite the fright. I agree that accepting treats is a good sign.

Do your best to help your rabbit relax and minimize all stressors. You know your rabbit best, so think from his perspective on what would help him feel secure in his space again.

In terms of injury, look at how he moves to see if there is any limping or oddities. You can run your hands back and forth around fur areas to check for any flinch…[Read more]

My family dog (a husky) got into my room today and chased my rabbit (Moose) around for about 15 seconds before I got there. Since then he’s been mostly hiding under my bed with the occasional hop out from beneath before running back under. He will eat some treats out of my hand if I reach it under the bed, but he is extremely jumpy and just…[Read more]

wow,, i haven’t been here in fricking ages. i guess forums are just not something i really pay much attention to anymore.

I’m down to 4 bunnies now,, i lost my Butters (from my 2013 rescued pair) to cancer last month.. he’d had 3 facial sarcoma removal surgeries since december, and was scheduled for the 4th, but it was growing so damn fast and…[Read more]

Hello everyone, I think the urine staining was a one off thing it hasn’t happened since, his poopy butt got better for a while actually on its own and I’m not sure what the difference was, I give milo endless amounts of timothy hay each day ( I did read orchard hay can cause poopy butt) the poopy butt is acting up a bit again but with no real…[Read more]

do they look like wound-scabs, or just a thick yellowish build-up?

Can you take a super close-up pic of one of the scabbed areas (where it is thickest ideally),, put some mineral oil around the edges of the scabbed area, trying to let it work its way  underneath and see if it allows them to release from the skin **Only a little bit at a time…[Read more]

I notice different hay batches can cause different poop sizes (ex. rougher, more stems 1st cut always equals bigger poops for Dorian), so that’s something to consider too.

yeah, the smoke can be horrible. We have been mostly lucky to miss the worst of it this year, just a week or two in August.

I don’t know what you are saying there, her name is obviously Apricot Jam! 😀  (but I may consider Snow Pigeon as a close 2nd)

too cute! He doesn’t look old enough to be neutered, that may cause some issues with the hormones, until you can get that done. But gah I see why you want him!

Onion-smelling poop are definitely not a sign of illness. A rabbit can be spayed/neutered and still produce oniony poops. These poops are often larger than the bun’s average poops and somewhat glossy. The rabbit can produce them even though there’s no other rabbit around. Girl buns especially can be highly territorial by default. The saying “my…[Read more]

OMG look at that little nugget!

Ok the one other thing to consider (which was mentioned to me by Sirius&Luna when I was considering whether to adopt Cooper), is that 4 bunnies really does take a lot more time than 3. It’s weird, going from 1 to 2 isn’t bad. And then adding a third was like OK, this is fine. But then with 4… it’s suddenly a…[Read more]
