I’ve only ever used hard-sided ones with a towel or blanket. It seems a lot of the soft-sided ones are not sturdy enough or bunnies chew on them. But that’s just me.

Nibbling is fine. You will want to discourage actual eating of the litter though. Large amounts can cause an obstruction. Have you considered a litter screen?

I recommend cardboard cat scratchers for carpet chewing, and using heavy ceramic tiles to block the “hot spots” that they like to chew the most. I also have had really good success with the “snak shak” log for my most active buns. It lasts a long time because it’s super hard. I usually reserve mine so they can only access it during exercise time,…[Read more]

Thank you, the litter helped. I used to use just hay and a pee pad, apparently that wasn’t enough for her white fur. But is it okay for her to occasionally eat her litter? I notice she does that. BTW I use Oxbow Eco-Straw Litter.

Hello, does anybody have a recommendation for a good rabbit carrier? I’m trying to find one that’s dark enough to keep her comfortable yet breathable, soft yet firm, and big enough to hold her. She’s a flemish giant/harlequin mix and 7.8lbs.
Thank You

The only thing my two boys (unbonded) like to play with are grass mats and hay cubes. If they don’t have these they get bored, but considering they’re destroying these things in a single day, I can’t afford to keep a constant supply.
They have stacking cups, baby key ring, toilet paper tubes, a phone book, a crinkly tunnel, willow balls, apple…[Read more]

Wouldn’t there be two incisions?

For a neuter, the operation is all done on the testes, so there should be nothing on the belly at all. With females, incision is at the belly area, and for males, the incision is on the testes.

Just picked up Walter. It rang up as a neuter and seems the incision is down low, nothing on the belly…so Walter really is a boy and the first vet was high?
Just got “him” settled, will try and get pic tomorrow during the pain med feeding.

I’m very sorry for your loss. 🙁 Wick has covered all of your questions really well. From personal experience (I’ve had several buns widowed/widowered over the years), it is so so sad to see the remaining bun alone. I hope you will be of some comfort to each other during the grieving process.
One thing you might look into is to see if you can…[Read more]

How long ago did you move? Moving to a new place can cause a disruption in litter habits because they want to mark the new place.
I think you need to figure out some sort of pen/cage situation for him, for your sanity and his safety. That will also help with litter training, as sometimes it does help them get “organized” to be confined. As…[Read more]

You can use pellet mush instead of critical care. You soak pellets in lukewarm water and make a mush that you feed with a syringe. You can absolutely mix the mush withsome “veggie smoothie”, but leafy veg smoothie alone will not provide the bun with all the calories, nutrients and fiber it needs. Wound healing requires quite a bit of protein,…[Read more]

I would cage him until he is litter trained, a cage is not one from a pet store, c&c girds, or exercise pens make great cages for bunnies. Lennon the Bunny has a great video of litter training bunnies, that is how I litter trained my bunny cinnimon. My other bunny ollie is mostly litter trained but doesn’t go outside of his cage. Maybe if possible…[Read more]
