Oh I didn’t think of Ruby chewdays!! That’s awesome. We even have some here in Cincy! (Unless they all closed down).

Yes sorry forgot to mention, both are fixed. Cookie has been neutered for about 4 months, Rosie we don’t know how long as she comes from a shelter.

I think you’re probably right about waiting longer. We will try that. Cookie is a little crazy sometimes so he’s hard to predict.

We will also read the link

    Thank you

Well the 3 didn’t fight, but didn’t click either so I didn’t want to go there.  All the dates went so well, not one nip or lunge! Makes things so hard. The place will swap if the bonding doesn’t go well which was a big reason I chose the place farther away.

I ended up with a small lionhead mix, another red eyed white. They kinda look alike. I…[Read more]

Are both of your rabbits spayed/neutered? If so, for how long? If not both are fixed, that is one large obstacle, as trying to bond while one rabbit is intact means you are fighting the influences of hormones, which is a battle owners can’t really win, since we can do nothing about how their biology will impact them, as well as the behavior of…[Read more]

You can’t 100% rule out syphilis without a blood test, ‘technically’. But it’s not like vets need to do confirmatory tests for every possibility.. that’d really increase the bill prices! But yes, highlighting what Dana mentions, syphilis on just ears is not common at all, but I wanted to mention it -just in case- since there have been weird…[Read more]

Those medications are safe for use in rabbits. I’m usually OK with a vet flipping a bunny if needed to do medical procedures (vs. some people just carrying their rabbit around like “a baby”). There are ways to hold them not completely flipped to do those things, but some bunnies struggle a lot.

All of that said though, if you didn’t have a great…[Read more]

Also just to circle back to something that was said earlier in the thread, you might talk to your vet about treating for E Cuniculi as a precaution given the urinary incontinence issues. The medicine for it is very well tolerated, and the tests for it are really unreliable, so many vets will opt to treat for it if there is any suspicion.

    Giving…[Read more]

There are stories of such bonds, but they are not the norm. Wick is correct, any bond that develops between a neutered male and unspayed female is going to be less stable than if both individuals are neutered/spayed. Hormones have the tendency to get in the way of bonding. Not only would the female feel territorial, she may experience false…[Read more]

From what you’re describing, I would say it is likely the water bowl too. You could try a shallower bowl to see if that helps. As Wick said though, it never hurts to bring something up with the vet. If they don’t know something is a problem, then they may not pick up on it during an exam.

For the future, I always recommend mentioning everything to a vet. Them not mentioning it can simply be them not noticing/not realizing it is unusual/abnormal– they have so many things to check during a general exam, so it’s good to let them know when there are particular things you have noticed. You are with your rabbit the most, so you can…[Read more]

Ah sorry I forgot to attach them here!! So I noticed awhile back that he had a small spot on his chin but it never grew or anything. I’d pat it with a towel to help him out and our vet never mentioned anything during our wellness exam a few months ago. So I figured it was the bowl. I checked right before I left a month ago and it was still the…[Read more]

I do not recommend trying any bond where one rabbit is not yet fixed. Hormones may not only impact the intact rabbit, but also the behavior of a fixed rabbit as well. Hormones are invisible and unpredictable, therefore ‘bonds’ that include at least one intact rabbit is naturally going to not be as secure and stable as one with all rabbits…[Read more]

No photos appear, but I notice you posted on RabbitsOnline and saw them there!

There is dampness just on the chin; not the corners of the mouth. It is minimal with no apparent fur loss.

Based on this, my first thought is actually the water vessel your rabbit drinks from. Rabbits do a pretty good job at drying water bowl drip, but it can take a…[Read more]
