What about biscuit-style treats? Oxbow makes some. Come to think of it, they also make some that are supplements too. As a side note – They have a biscuit-style supplement that is for urinary health. It contains cranberry, which increases urine acidity.
As for toys, have you tried willow? Particularly willow with dried leaves still attached?…[Read more]

Considering his age, he could have a little bit of lop mixed in there somewhere. This tends to show later than in lop eared babies.

I was wondering if anyone could recommend any special things they do to make their rabbit happy. I don’t like giving her food treats because it messes with her digestion so much. So maybe things like really special toys, or just ideas any general. Anything that makes your bun the happiest?

Earlier this year my rabbit pumpkin got gi stasis, and ever since then I’ve been giving her hay on the floor of her cage to encourage her to eat more. For months I’ve been trying to get her to eat out of a hay feeder or her litterbox, but she wont do it. She will not eat one bite of hay unless its laying on the floor of her cage in this one exact…[Read more]

That sounds like a good plan. See if the claws are the problem. If the scabs don’t go away, then treat for fleas or mites. Revolution is only available from vets in the US.

Do you know if I would be able to get revolution or advantage without getting it from a vet? The only vet near me that I trust with my rabbit is over an hour away and pretty expensive. If not I’ll still take her of course, I just try not to stress her out too much with car rides.

Normally, I would not recommend this, but this seems to be a very different situation. Might be worth a try until you can get this figured out.
Marshalls Goodby body and waste odor eliminator. You add it to the water.
I tried it a great many years ago when my mom was complaining about my ferret. (But she never did anything about her NASTY ci…[Read more]

Hi all! So I have a male lion head rabbit that is almost 8 months old and he got neutered about a month ago. He has healed great from that and seems to be doing great over all. Last night I noticed that he was hanging one of his ears down, he does this occasionally and then puts it back up and holds his ears in all different ways honestly lol.…[Read more]

No, she’s the only rabbit I have. I have other pets but they aren’t allowed to see or interact with her.
I’m starting to wonder if her back nails are too long and she’s doing this when she grooms herself. I trim her nails every 2-3 weeks, but I’m never able to get her back nails to be all the way down to the quick. Her back nails are all black…[Read more]

Is she interacting with any other rabbits? Sometimes they get scabs from other rabbits nipping or trying to mount them.

DanaNM replied to the topic One of my bunnies always has diarrhea in the forum DIET & CARE 2 years, 10 months ago
Unfortunately this doesn’t sound like something simple that can be treated at home, since you already tried cutting out veggies.
Can you post a picture of the poop? True diarrhea is an emergency, whereas excess or mis-formed cecotropes is less urgent. Does she ever have normal poops?

I’m so sorry you are dealing with this. I have been asking myself many of the same questions about my 13 year old bunny. He is very old and either has severe arthritis, EC, or both, which has several limited his mobility and is creating other issues. We’re currently trying to treat the EC just in case, but not sure if that is even the issue.

DanaNM replied to the topic 8 week old lop diet in the forum DIET & CARE 2 years, 10 months ago
You can actually do unlimited timothy hay rather than alfalfa hay as long as you also provide alfalfa pellets. It’s often easier to transition buns to timothy when they have had it from a young age, and as long as they get alfalfa in the pellets they don’t need two sources.
No treats or veggies for now. Veggies can be very gradually introduced at…[Read more]

It was kind of you to try to help this rabbit, I’m sorry it didn’t survive. Be extremely careful to decontaminate everything that contacted this rabbit, as blood coming out is a symptom of RHDV (Rabbit Hemorrhagic Disease Virus). It is highly contagious and resistant to most forms of disinfection.
Here is some info about it:…[Read more]
