CutieMoosh started the topic Bunny tilts mouth when chewing??? in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 2 years, 7 months ago

    Hi!

My bunny’s been tilting his mouth while chewing hay. He doesn’t do this with every bite. His head isn’t tilting, it’s more of his mouth (kind of like this :/). He’s been chewing on the side that’s tilted upward a bit more, but he does chew on both sides. Is he ok??

    Thank u!!

It’s not though. This is how ALL of his poop looks.

Small, misshapen poops are usually a sign of dehydration. Does your bunny drink a decent amount of water?

Looks like a bunch of mushy cecotropes to me.

He is eating pretty much only Critical Care. There’s nothing solid in his diet like hay so I assumed the poop is fitting since it’s so soft going in. I dilute it with more water since he hates it and spits it out so it’s very watery.

Here is a photo of the poop for those that want to see. Sorry if it’s TMI.

No, she isn’t sneezing anymore just at the beginning of this. I am going to follow up with the dr for a longer course. thanks so much for the reply!

Thanks for the reply! I will ask the doctor, she is on day 3 of sulfatrim and while showing improvements she is still doing that strange breathing. I will follow up with the dr. for more of the antibiotics. Thank you!!

The poop is also very large — like mud piles. It comes out in huge chunks and it almost looks like dog poop. It’s also misshaped and smells awful. His bottom is understandably very dirty afterwards and he does his best to clean himself. This is such a contrast from his regular round golden balls.

    Hello folks~

I recently purchased the Viking Farmer 2nd cut Timothy hay from Amazon, it is green and leafy, and my bunny Richard is crazy about it. When he is fed on this hay, his poops are in a water-drop shape, but each one is in a similar size, so weird in shape but even in size.

Normally his poops are healthy, round and about 8mm in radius…[Read more]

Depends. Are they free-roam during the day? Some bunnies are very good about not pooping in areas outside of their home base, but they will see their entire home base as fair game. So when they are confined to their home base (like at night), you may notice a lot more poop on the floor around the litter box.

Bunnies on Critical Care should not have watery poop. As Bam said, they can get sticky poop though.

Hmm… are the hiccups preceded by a sneezing fit? Sometimes violent coughing/sneezing can trigger spasms in the diaphragm. I agree with Bam though. That is a very short course of antibiotics, which is likely not sufficient.

Hi, I just got a 6 month old male who is not neutered yet ( I am working on it) and a 3 year old doe who is spayed. How is this going to affect bonding? Right now they are in separate pens next to each other and are sniffing each other out. Starlight (3year old doe) seems unbothered so far which is good because I thought she’d be hostile towards a…[Read more]

A bun on Critical Care is not supposed to have runny poop. The water in the mixed CC works like drinking water. The CC powder is high in dietary fiber and will become round poop and cecals in the gut. If your bun eats nothing but CC, you need to make sure he gets enough. Here is some info from Oxbow, with a dosage…[Read more]

    Hi all,

So my bunny stopped eating about a week ago. He would pick up a piece of hay and turn it around in his mouth for 10-15 minutes then drop it. This came out of nowhere, he was happy and healthy in the morning and by the afternoon he was acting weird. I am almost positive it’s a teeth issue. I took him to the vet the very next day and he…[Read more]

In the video it does look like hiccups, and if she were a very young bun, I’dassume it were hiccups. In young buns, hiccups are normal.

Buns can get URIs and sulfatrim as a rule helps. A longer course than 5 days is often  needed. Could you ask your vet to extend treatment to 2 weeks since the symptoms haven’t subsided?

    Baytril would be the…[Read more]
