What kind of comb do you use? I’ve noticed dif combs work better for dif coat types. I really like the hairbuster comb in general, but some of my buns do better with hand plucking or a lint roller. With Bonnie (my anxious bun) I only do grooming when she’s actively molting, and I just put her on the table and do a deep grooming every few days…[Read more]

Don’t even get me started on the current protocols…. 👿
The MA state vet is the same… they won’t approve it until it’s found in MA… even though neighboring states are less than 150 miles away! So infuriating.
For what it’s worth my 4 buns all handled the drive and the vaccine very well, for both the first shot and second shots.

Hello!
So Nellie seems healthy but we rescued her at the age of 5/6 so there are some unknowns – we do know that she lived off a pellet only diet before us. She keeps getting recurring bouts of gas, maybe ever 2 months. I am usually very quick to act – depending on time of day I go straight in with tummy rubs, smithecone and loxicom and it sets…[Read more]

So cute! They’ll grow like weeds! From memory, when Bandit (profile pic) was 3 or 4 months of age, that was roughly half of his final adult weight. I must admit I do love the bigger bunnies.

White rabbit, white rabbit, white rabbit.
Happy New Year, and very fittingly, year of the rabbit.
Been a lot going on here, or at least it feels like it. Retail work at Christmas is exhausting. Glad to be past the peak of it. Our car broke down (twice) the week of Christmas, and now we’re into 2023. Where does the time go?
Pet updates:

Baby buns are named Marnie and Sophie (REW). They are rex-beveren mixes and at 3 months old, are bigger than Gus now, my little 3 and a half year old man. Photo of Marnie and Gus was taken when I found they had breached containment at 3am today and I realized just how large these buns are gonna be compared to him. I don’t know what the future…[Read more]

Thank you so much for the response!
I’m a huge worry-wart when it comes to my buns, they just seem so tiny and fragile (though I will admit most of the time I’m more effected by things than they are 😛 ).
I’ll definitely be looking into getting them vaccinated, and thank you for letting me know it’s available in neighboring states. CT is…[Read more]

Oh my gosh, I’m so sorry you had that experience at the rescue, how awful!
The short answer is I think you are probably fine! I’m in Massachusetts and have been tracking things pretty carefully. The rule of thumb is that if it’s within 150 miles to assume it’s in your area, so you are still good on that front, and realistically it’s probably more…[Read more]

I hope he likes the Emeraid and I’ve glad he perked up a bit! Aside from my own experience, I’ve been hearing good reviews on it on facebook in the Elderbuns group as well as from friends from the rescue.
I’m sorry about your partner’s mom. 🙁 <3

LBJ10 replied to the topic Antibiotics advice in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 2 years, 7 months ago
You said suspected. Is the vet not sure? Do the symptoms return if he comes of the Baytril? I agree that 7 weeks is a long time. If the Baytril hasn’t resolved the issue, then it may be best to try another antibiotic. Or you may want to consider other possible causes like EC.

LBJ10 replied to the topic Questionable consistency of urine in the litter box in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 2 years, 7 months ago
If she consistently pees in the same spot, then this could just be build up of several times worth. As the others said, bunnies excrete excess calcium in their urine. It isn’t uncommon to see calcium deposits left behind once the pee has dried. However, if there is no liquid coming out and it’s all pasty, then that would be a cause for concern.

It is true that x-rays wont tell if there is arthritis/arthrosis pain. It’s well known that both humans and animals can be symptom free and yet have just terrible x-rays, whereas others can have bad pain but x-rays only show minimal degenerative changes.
If there is arthrosis pain, NSAIDs will help bring down the inflammation and pain, but it can…[Read more]
