She sports the Harelquin pattern, but that gene has been introduced into a lot of breeds. She looks big. How much does she weigh?

I can’t do bathroom, Miu likes to explore so has been in the bathroom plenty of times and Dorian can not do slippy. I will just do what I did before then and hope it goes a lot faster.

If you aren’t feeling the “pop” that seems to me like you aren’t actually penetrating the skin and are just in the fur.

Hi Everyone! I’m new to this forum, but I was wondering if anyone could help me figure out what breed my female rabbit is?

I’ve been wondering since I adopted her & I would love to know.

It seems to be the most successful to plan for the worst, but hope for the best! As in, plan to start from scratch and look for alllll the same milestones you did when you first bonded them. You will probably need some sort of housing for her so you can do side swaps (or have some way to let Dorian out for exercise). A spare x-pen usually works…[Read more]

I havent seen the needle come through the other side, I have been making the tent and then putting the needle in the tent area not all the way with the needle but I’m not really feeling a “pop” or anything so to speak when the needle has been going in, but the moment I take out the needle the penicillin is all over the place, I’m quite confused. I…[Read more]

This is a really hard decision, I pretty much struggle with this daily with Bun Jovi. I basically track good days and bad. I’ve used this survey and I found it to be really helpful: https://vet.osu.edu/vmc/sites/default/files/import/assets/pdf/hospital/companionAnimals/HonoringtheBond/HowDoIKnowWhen.pdf

Hmm, I wonder if you aren’t actually pushing the needle in far enough? Or you could be poking out the other side, it’s very easy to do that by mistake.

I like to make the skin tent kind of a triangle/pyramid using three fingers, and then poke the needle between two fingers so there is more space for it.

Meds sound great. Cyproheptadine is an antihistamine appetite stimulant. I had it myself as a child due to severe cat allergy. Metoclopramide is a gut stimulant. Sulfa-thrimeth is great for bact problems in the GI tract. Metacam is a non steroid anti inflammatory drug, pretty much like ibuprofen for hooms.

Sometimes we do need to put our trust in…[Read more]

So unfortunately the Penicillin Injections are not going so well. The first time I had luck and it went in uneventfully, these last few times however, no matter what I do… the needle is not going through the other side of the skin or anything weird like that, but even if I’m keeping the skin held or keeping it pinched while pulling out the…[Read more]

Got a small bunch of hard misshaped poops! Things are starting to move. She is wound up and wants to chew on everything. I think is the combo of the appetite stimulant and the gut mobility one.

I didn’t see the question earlier about contacting her regular vet. He’s out of town until Monday. None of the emergency vets see rabbits here. We too…[Read more]

I’m glad to hear she took some greens! Eating anything at all is a positive sign.

We fed her critical care at 11pm, 2:30 am and again at 6:30 this morning. She looked a lot better this morning. She ate some fennel greens and dandelion greens in addition to being syringe fed. So that’s encouraging. Got her morning dose of meds in. She was moving about more, which is good.

No pooping yet ☹️  Looks like she peed some. Not as mu…[Read more]

He was on ivermectin once a week for the ear mites so that’s why I figured once a week would work best. Whenever I give him the ivermectin, he’s usually a lot more active and acts a lot more comfortable for about 2 weeks before going back to looking depressed in his litter box if I don’t give him more. His current vet seems reluctant to run any t…[Read more]

How is she feeling this morning? The dribbled urine does help explain the reason for the antibiotic.

Safest approach is generally to start from scratch, with the understanding that it may not take as long this time around since they had already bonded once before.

Ultimately, it’s not your job at all to figure out the mystery — it is your vet’s, so if you ever want to update your vet on your rabbit’s condition, consult, etc. I would not hesitate to do so, in addition to consulting with another rabbit vet if that is possible (I understand you might have had bad experiences with the others, but it’s possible…[Read more]
