Carrots have a lot of sugar, so I’d only give small pieces of carrot as treats/rewards. You could save some of his daily pellets and use them as treats or rewards. I often hand feed pellets so my rabbits believe pellets are treats.
For training purposes it’s good to switch between “high value” treats (piece of carrot) and less high value treats (pellets).

I am starting trying to call my bunny out of his cage by name, rather then reaching in and grabbing him. When he comes I take him out and give him one of those baby carrots as a good job treat. I am going to try to take him out every day and give him good job carrot. I did yesterday, and he LOVED it!I know carrots are just a treat, so I don’t want…[Read more]

Hi yes all the pics are from one foot only. I called the vet and they only have a opening for Monday afternoon. Should i leave it be or put something on it? Also i have some left over pain meds from the dental trim visit i gave him some of that to help him through this weekend.

I want to give my bunny a treat for when he comes by his name. We bought carrots and he loves them. I gave him some yesterday and he LOVED it! They are just the little baby carrots but I am wondering how often I can give him some. I don’t want to over do it because I know they are only treats. Can anyone tell me?

Thank you, no EC episodes yet. He started eating last night and he is now with his sister. I will hopefully pick them up tomorrow. We are wishing you and Ben a quick recovery. I know how stressful for both and you and Ben this must be.

That’s great he loves the recovery food! Finding a brand they like is so wonderful and really takes away a lot of the stress of giving it to them. Sounds like he is on the mend!

I agree it looks like there is a puss pocket there. Sometimes they can get poked in the foot by a sharp piece of hay and get an abscess from it.
If he just had bloodwork on Sept 22 I don’t see why he needs it again before his dental trim. Talk to your vet about only doing the essential things.

He had a thorough dental exam in September that I mentioned in a post above, and he has another scheduled for late next month.

This is all the same foot? How is the other one? It does look like there is at least one puss pocket under there.

Hi, I’m wondering if the ear mites and fur mites on rabbits can cause Lyme disease in humans? Are they dangerous to us? Cant find much info on Google.

Bam replied to the topic Too much panacur? in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 1 year, 5 months ago
The poop irregularities could be due to her not eating like she normally would. Critical care and other rescue formulas contain fiber, but its still not the same as eating a good amount of hay every day.
I once had a bun that needed daily critical care for an extended period if time, and his poop was often weird-looking. But he did pull through,…[Read more]

I have a question about her poop, i will ask it here if that’s okay.
I am noticing that she will poop really giant poops like the ones when their gut slows down and 2 get merged together. It’s not all her poops but I’m seeing like 1 or 2 a day. Could it be the medication?

I forgot a couple of details –
His skin infection is most likely from a couple of weeks ago when he had a day or two when he was being messy about drinking water. The vet thinks that moisture got trapped in his dewlap. He’s not drooling and his teeth look good!
He’s still eating timothy hay first and second cut with some orchard hay mixed in. He…[Read more]

Hi all, update on Benjamin –

He lost a lot of weight throughout October despite increasing the amount of critical care and pellets he got daily. Just this past week/week and a half his head started to tilt. He had head tilt from E. Cuniculi a couple of years ago but we started treatment quickly and reversed it.

Ben and I are wishing your bunny a swift and easy recovery <3
I just updated my thread and I wanted to give you a heads up – if your bunny has had E. Cuniculi in the past you’ll want to watch for signs of it coming back if your bun gets surgery for the liver torsion. Since Ben was immunocompromised during the surgery his EC has flaired up…[Read more]
