I’m pretty stressed now. She won’t eat by herself at all. She’s flopped to lie down quite a few times now and her ears feel a bit cold.

I’m feeding her more critical care while I wait a lift to the vets. I feel literally sick with worry 🙁

Hexagonal chicken wire is no match for a bun. They chew through it and becsuse the wire is “knitted”, not welded, a small hole can become a big hole quickly, but he plastic coating would prevent that to an extent though.

Double chicken wire is ok though. Maybe you could put a second layer of chicken wire around the run, where the rabbit can…[Read more]

I couldn’t find much if really anything at all on the condition either. I too also read that once they are removed they typically don’t come back, so the fact this is our 3rd reoccurrence so so disheartening. She’s recovering a lot more slowly this time around too. I think with her age, if they do recur, I think the ethics with putting her throu…[Read more]

Hexagonal chicken wire is very thin, like 20 gauge. Even if it is PVC coated, I would worry about a bunny (or other animal) chewing through it. Plus PVC coating tends to be very yummy for some reason.

Honestly, you are the only member who has posted about such an experience. At least the only one I’m aware of, I did not do a forum search. Googling yields very few results. Most animal cases seem to be cats or dogs. When it comes to people though, I know that removing a rhinolith tends to solve the issue and they don’t often grow back. So yes,…[Read more]

Syphilis symptoms can manifest at any time. It isn’t unusual for a bunny to have been infected by their mother and then not show any outward signs until years later.

I agree that the bump would be concerning if it doesn’t go away or it gets bigger/worse. It is hard to tell from the picture, so it could very well be an abrasion. Or it could be…[Read more]

    Thank you so much!!

The rabbits arrived yesterday and after taking your advice there’s been no problems yet. The other rabbits can definitely tell that others have been here, but they don’t seem uncomfortable with that. My rabbits are oblivious as well.

Thank you for your reply. It has grown a little bit in width I feel but he has been scratching and his nails are on the sharp side so that definitely could have contributed. It looks like it’s a bit inflamed but there is scabbing now so his scratching could’ve annoyed it. I have time off at the start of April so I will probably re take him back to…[Read more]

It is hard to say what may have caused it, but I would continue to monitor, do your best to keep it generally clean, and if it does grow, spread, show signs of infection, etc., it would then merit another vet visit. It is very possible it was simply an environmental abrasion that didn’t heal properly, and yes, there are options for fur-related…[Read more]

My 3 year old male rabbit has this bump on his nose. I have sought out advice from a vet and they are not concerned as he is still eating/using the toilet and is his usual bad behaved self.

They could not tell me the cause of this mark, it appeared out of nowhere about 2 weeks ago.

He does have a free standing hay rack, he frequently…[Read more]

Bam replied to the topic What does Pyrometra symptoms look like? in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 1 year, 5 months ago

Pyometra is uncommon in rabbits, rabbits tend to get other uterine problems. The most common are thickening of the uterine wall and uterine cancer. It is probably due to high levels of estrogen. I can’t remember that we’ve had a case of fullblown pyometra here. Spayed buns of course can’t get pyometra.

Pyometra means there’s bacteria in the…[Read more]

Nothing is wrong with Blossom so I’m sorry for the title scare, I don’t know how else to word it. Anyway I was watching vet shows and a dog on it had pyrometra and it got me wondering “what does pyrometra symptoms look like in a bunny?” I trust you all with that information more than me just researching it on my own, (because of all the…[Read more]

She’s had about 5 CT scans and they are as just at a loss as to why they keep coming back as we are.

her recent CT showed 7-8 stones and 7 were removed. They did a much larger site this time to make flushing easier, so I’m hoping that will go in her favour. But yeah they can’t give me a reason for why this keeps happening either. Apparently while…[Read more]
