  The rabbit specialist sells it for a whopping $23 (all Aussie dollars)
  
  Another place in another state sells them for $16 and the more you buy the less postage price.
  
  1 bag $7
  
  2 bags $11
  
  3 bags $12
  
  4 bags $13

  Oh wow that is expensive …. 425g is nothing really …. I’d probably go through that in a week with feeding one bunny and two piggies and I don’t scrimp on the hay.
  
  I buy a bale (its oaten) … the kind horses and other farm animals eat. It costs me $13 for a bale … the bale weighs about 25 kilograms and lasts me about six weeks.

  I have seen references to oaten hay on various Australian bunny sites. What is it exactly? I wonder if it is the same plant that we call oat hay, which is a greenish yellow stalk with small seeds held in groups at the ends, or if it is a differnt grass?

  Osprey – from what I gathered oaten hay is the closet equivalent to timothy that’s readily available in Australia, it seems like it’s the recommended choice by most of the Australian sites. I poked around online and wasn’t able to tell if it’s similar to oat hay or not.

  really? my bag is 20oz and has lasted 3 weeks so far (never noticed time before but i know this for sure based on Baby’s vet appt). hmmm. i figured Baby wasn’t eating much hay but now i’m thiking its WAY too little. the little stinker. even with her reduced pellets & doling out hay a few times a day. i was about to try a hay blend but since she’s had the one poo issue the other day i don’t want to mess with her diet right now.

  Its tough to tell how much hay a bun eats per week (well for me at least) because what I do is just make sure that they always have a hay rack full of hay. That way, whenever they get hungry there will always be hay around. Then I just feed them 1/4 cup pellets per day per bun, and a couple cups of greens, and then the rest of the food they get is always hay. I go through about a bale every two months with my 7 rabbits (that is approx. 100 lbs of hay – I can’t even move it!) so that is about .2 of a pound per day, but some of that hay does just go in their litterbox and doesn’t get eaten because its "dirty" or "old" hay (per my rabbits, its actually perfectly fine, but once they step on it they don’t like to eat it)

  Babybunsmum- I have three bunnies, so we go through hay pretty quickly . If I buy one of those small oxbow bags it lasts about maybe 3 days at my house.
