        Hi,

My Holland Lop, Penelope, is going to be 2 years old in February. I’ve gone through the shedding stages with her and right now is one of those times where she is shedding, a lot. I just noticed this strange spot on her head, once I moved her long fur on her head. It’s definitely fur, just very short and almost in a perfect outlined circle. I have never noticed this before, but because her fur is long, it could have been there. I took a close look and it’s not red or irritated or flaking, just short fur. And I have not noticed any other areas like this. She is acting totally fine, nothing out of the ordinary. I don’t believe I have incorporated anything new in her diet. I will attach a picture. With the holiday’s coming up it might be hard to get her into the vet for something non-emergent but I am going to try to get her in and get it looked at. But just thought I’d hop on here and see if anyone has seen something like this, and hopefully it will help me not go insane worrying!!

That is a regular molt patch — no need to worry.

As Wick says, this is a regular (and very cute) molt patch. It’s simply the new fur coming in. Sometimes you see completely bald spots in a shedding rabbit, but within 1 max 2 weeks or so, you can feel the new hair growth and then you see it. Your rabbit has banded hair, meaning the individual hairs are differently colored along their lenght. The dark color in the circular spot is the color of the tips of the hairs.
