My bunny has a bladder stone.

Sunday night after letting my bunnies out to play my newest bunny started laying down and acting lethargic. She also didn’t want any treats which she normally goes crazy over. I rushed her to the emergency and stayed all night while she got X-rays. The vet felt a lump in her gut. The X-rays showed a very obvious white spot inside her.
After almost $1000 she was sent home with pain medicine, critical care, and water to give her with a needle.
We have had a hard time giving her medicine and she moves so much that giving her the water seems impossible. She’s been acting completely normal since returning home and has even been excited for treats again.
I have her scheduled for an appointment at her own vet in 2 days. The emergency vet wasn’t sure if her weird behavior was from the bladder stone but she definitely has one and needs it removed.
Does anyone have any advice or experience with a bunny that had bladder stones before? Is it normal for them to act like they are in pain and then act completely fine?
I need to ask the vet these questions too of course, but I thought I’d ask here too. It’s been stressful the past couple of days.
What should I expect after her surgery? Is it hard for bunnies to recover from?

Im not completely sure but I wonder if it’s due to the stone hitting the bladder wall at times and causing some inflammation, which later recedes?
Hopefully some members who have gone through this will offer some advice.

I had a bunny who had to have a bladder stone removed.  They kept him overnight, and then after that he healed well.   We kept him limited to a smaller xpen (instead of free range) to keep him settled for a few days.    We were put on a new treatment and diet plan (no pellets and worked on ways to get him to drink more water).   Here is the link to his Diet Plan.   Also, here is a link to the thread that I started about it (back in 2009)

In Jack’s case, he never showed obvious pain and never became lethargic.  He was always active.  However, he did have this unusual “Chocolate Bunny” stance.  Where he just sat up in a strange way and would just sit and stare in a way that I now recognize that might of been his way to”grimace”.     I only found out that he had a stone at all when I saw blood in his urine – because he was so active, it would actually tear up his bladder a little and cause blood.   

Hopefully some of the information that is provided in Jack’s Diet Plan and my original post will be helpful.
