Oh, aren’t those bunnies lucky and what a wonderful thing you all do. I know it is soooo hard to see what happens behind the scenes. When I worked with a shelter for a few months, the most heartbreaking thing was having to go back to get something out of the intake department, and see people giving up their own dogs and cats(not strays) and seeing the confused frightened look on their animals face. And it didn’t seem to phase their owner as they just signed the paperwork and trotted off. I’m sure some kept any pain inside, but I don’t know how someone could even put on a fake smile when their dog is looking at them like “why are you leaving me”
I do remember though after a while seeing the happy endings to those sad beginnings so it dampened the hurt, but I still had to swallow hard. Many times, later, things I shut out to get on with the day, would later haunt me when I wasn’t expecting it.
It’s just so hard, and I commend the people that can actually work there. I don’t know how they do it.
