With EC, they sometimes get worse before they get better. So the symptoms associated with EC may take some time to show improvement. As for the infection, it does sound like that part has been improving. You said you don’t hear the rattling in his chest or see as much nasal discharge. Antibiotics, if effective against the bacteria in question,…[Read more]

I will echo Dana. It’s very possible that this is a genetic condition. Teeth are normally not that brittle, so something else has to be going on. It could be a problem with how his body processes calcium. And yes, sometimes the remaining teeth do stabilize. They can move within the jaw to “fill” the gap and become more aligned with each other.

Yeah, I’ve never heard that either.

50 sq ft is totally fine (esp as a temporary set up!), so don’t feel bad at all. It’s only temporary! He may actually feel less territorial knowing he has less space to “defend”.

The stinky-ness is crazy. I think they can control it by exposing their scent glands? Recently I revamped Cooper and Bonnie’s pen, and Cooper smelled super oniony again…[Read more]

I think that sounds like it went pretty well all things considered!

When i used to bond in my bathroom I had to block the toilet too!  Honestly I think the most important thing now is patience, and just keep going as you have been. If they are comforted by pets, then pet lots.

If you want to keep posting about the sessions, feel free to do so…[Read more]

Most go back after being spayed but some need to be retrained again. Fox Valley Animal Welfare League is a very good place to get your rabbit spayed if you live around and haven’t already figured it out. They are great at it and very affordable I Think it is 90 or 100 for a spay which is a very good price.

I am pretty sure that overfeeding pellets can’t kill them only make them overweight, and not eat hay as DanaNM said. I think that measured feeding is the way to go because they won’t become overweight, and there is a much better chance that they will eat their hay more. I had one of my bunnies since she was 2 months old and never free fed here,…[Read more]

Hi… I also have anxiety and it is hard to take care of them sometimes. When it is hard I sometimes skip brushing them for that day or if their cage isn’t super messy I leave it be. When I can though this is what I do.

    • 8 AM let them out for 15 minutes.
    • 9/10 AM I let them out when I do school ( I homeschool ) normally they are out for about 1…

    First date didn’t go well.
    – some nipping and lunging – okay, but Shadow was being aggressive with it and he “dug” at Zelda’s head twice. I’m not sure what he’s trying to tell her. The second time was because she tried to hump him.
    – humping, not much.
    – thumping, none.
    – chasing, none.
    – there was a brief groom standoff.

    Second date might’ve…[Read more]

I think it may be better not to swap for now, my only issue is space. In hindsight it’s not the best set – up but I can’t change it now. With one of them able to leave the room anytime, they aren’t getting as much exposure to each other as I wanted.

Right now Max has about 50 sq ft, which isn’t horrible but seeing him run up and down the hall…[Read more]

The smelly-ness can come from just being territorial! Cooper was SO stinky when i brought him home, even though he was neutered! I def had some “oh no” thoughts with him at first, but it did calm down once they were bonded!

I agree more pre-bonding will help a lot in this case (or even just no swaps, let them live side by side for a few weeks,…[Read more]

Yeah, it’s too bad, I was really hoping for them to work like it did with Elmer. I appreciate your support, bonding rabbits is so hard it makes all the difference to have a place to get help.

I of course worry it’s not a good match. They are still marking quite a lot. Max also is very stinky, like as if he hadn’t been neutered.  He humped Ruby a…[Read more]

    Update

Milo started to go downhill towards the beginning of this month, he began circling and stopped eating and drinking and then rolling. Pasteurella reared it’s ugly head again and  it looks like it was the cause of the ear infection on top of having e cuniculi. ( since the vet originally just gave me fenbendazole and nothing else despite me…[Read more]

Aww, bummer! But some ups and downs are normal and to be expected as the buns settle in a bit with each other. I think it’s fine to go back to shorter dates (or even pre-bonding), whatever you feel most comfortable with. I think since things have been moving pretty quickly I’d prob slow the pace a little.

Is your hand OK? I hope you had gloves…[Read more]

    Hi,

We are in the same situation as you, with two bunnies housed separately. They are in pens side by side, so they are neighbours and share the same exercise space – the living room. Since we are just starting with the bonding, they cannot be let out of the pen at the same time. I agree that caring for bunnies separately can be a huge burden. Be…[Read more]

Basic run down of what they did yesterday:

    – nipping; I generally try to encourage this but Shadow was being a little aggressive with it unless I’m too used to witnessing dogs interact than rabbits. Zelda nipped him on the back of his neck as she was about to hump him, he wasn’t happy with this.

    – not much humping; like above, Zelda tried but…[Read more]
