Is she showing signs of pain when she is eating? It may be possible to treat the abscess with antibiotics alone. It may not cure her, but if it isn’t causing her any pain then the antibiotics may help slow the progression. We have had a few people here on the forum with similar situations.

Hi all, it’s been a long time since I’ve been on this forum, have missed it. Life gets so busy though doesn’t it.

We have a wee bun Daisy who we adopted in January 2014, we believe she was about 1 when we got her.
We are really really close with her, she’s the sweetest most loving bun, she free roams our house and loves nothing more than sitting…[Read more]

If the bun gets into a bag of measured- type pellets and pigs out completely, it could kill the rabbit, same as getting into a bag of kibble could kill a dog.

But if you measure up measured-type pellets the risk is more about long term health. The bun will get fat if the portion size contains more calories than the bun spends. The bun might lose…[Read more]

Bam replied to the topic Rabbit in stasis with Jelly poo?? in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 4 years, 10 months ago

Jelly poop can mean the intestinal wall is irritated, or that there’s overgrowth of bad gut bacteria, but in your case, my guess is its the natural end product of EmerAid. I have never used this product myself though. It’s rather different from Critical Care. But jelly poop is still poop, meaning things are passing through and the intestines are…[Read more]

Hello, I have a 1.5yo Flemish giant.  She’s been in GI stasis for almost two weeks.  We are under vet care and she’s getting 1 type of injectable gut mobility (cerina) drug, 2 types of oral mobility drugs (reglan & another), 2 types of pain meds (metacam and gabapentin), baby gas drops, bene-bac plus (probiotic), entice (appetite stimulant), sub q…[Read more]

@Hazel – What kind of fence do you have? If it’s a wooden privacy fence, can you put one of those anti-cat measures along the top? Like a cat fence roller? I’m just thinking that if you can at least keep them out of your yard, it would help some. I know I’ve mentioned this before, but I’m still wondering if a local cat rescue could help capture…[Read more]

I really appreciate everyone’s supportive words. I knew this would be the right place to discuss my grief. You’re all sympathetic bunny parents who know how much joy they bring.

@David – I’m so sorry for you loss. Floppy sounds like such a loved bunny.  COVID has made things harder because we can’t accompany our loved ones in the examination…[Read more]

Okay yes, he’s been acting completely normal getting the zoomies and doing binkies around the house. I will make an appt to get a wellness check though! Thank you!

As long as there isn’t something going on in his ear (ear infection, ear mites, etc.), then it’s possible that he has a little bit of lop mixed in there. Sometimes lop mixes have helicopter ears.

I just got a new bunny and I’ve only ever had a lop rabbit. The new rabbit is from a petstore and is around 8-9 weeks. He appears to be a lion head. He’s acting completely normal but I started to notice one ear seems to be dropping a little. I just want to know if he could be mixed with a lop or if it’s something I should be more concerned about…[Read more]

I’m planning on trying another in the bathroom now I’ll have more time, but I’ll clean it with white vinegar and hopefully get an x-pen to better block spots they’ll hide in and fight over. If that still goes poor, I’ll try to set them up in a small space using the x-pen in the living room. Both haven’t been in the back area of it, only Zelda…[Read more]

@Hazel, that’s just awful. Could you put Mosby on maintenance Revolution until you can get rid of the cats? (Maybe you already have). Poor cats, its so sad. Lots of stray cats here, I hate finding their dead victims in the garden. I know the strays must eat, but people really ought to spay and neuter their outdoors cats. There is a new law here…[Read more]

Oh my goodness @Azerane! I’m so glad you’re OK and are simply reporting your experience. Definitely a good reminder to dress appropriately for the outdoors.. I can imagine birds are a wonderful distraction and can make us put our guard down, haha.

It is important to consider the consequences of our actions, and I recommend reading information with such direct, extreme consequences with caution, as they often are oversimplifying or simply not based on fact. Yes, there can be negative consequences to your rabbit’s health when not offering an appropriate amount of measured pellets, but that…[Read more]
