We’ve looked at shelters, and got aggressive lectures about that rabbits aren’t happy alone. I told them that we kept rabbits like this for 20 years, and that they were the best cared for rabbits that both the vets and the people at the crematorium have ever seen.

Never mind shelters then… There were many buns that had been born behind bars and…[Read more]

Well okay, I wrote her diet in other answer.

And I’m just worried I don’t know how much a bunny should weight. Mine weights around 2 kilos. (it is always like 2030grams, 2056grams) but now it keeps going up and up

I’m just scared because when she got GI STASIS she weighted 2175 grams and im scared when she reaches the weight she will be sick…[Read more]

She just turned 1 year old a few days ago.

Okay so her diet, in the early morning she gets like 8 grams of pellets, later she gets a bowl with greens.

Throughout the day she doesnt get any pellets. She does get a vitamin for her imunity system which is like 5 little flower shaped pellets I don’t know how to explain that sorry. Sometimes we give…[Read more]

It doesn’t sound concerning to me.

As for light – natural light is fine during the day. I have found that bunnies often feel more comfortable with a “night light” for when it gets dark outside in the evening. This is especially true in the winter when it gets dark early.

    Hi all!

We just adopted an 8 week old Holland lop and when we picked him up his paws were stained bright yellow and matted with either poop or mud. We immediately bought some pet shampoo and tried the submerge method, he was totally fine with it but it didn’t seem to do too much. I tried gently rubbing the areas with a towel and gently brushing o…[Read more]

I am in a very hard situation and I need advice, success stories, anything.

I am currently in the United States but, hopefully next year, I will be moving to Brazil to live with my husband who is already there and be close to our family. I am absolutely thrilled to be with my love, but I am also panicking. My dream is to bring my rabbit with me…[Read more]

Okay. So it isn’t a problem? Also, my room normally has its lights off because I don’t like light, is that okay for them?

Hmm… I don’t know if the glucose means anything. You will see a rise in blood sugar when a rabbit is stressed. But… perhaps he had some sort of endocrine disorder?

I didn’t mean it was bad that she follows me around when I come home, I just feel bad thinking she must have been lonely since I’m always around. I wish I got her a friend when she was a baby but after all her medical bills and issues, I don’t think I’ll ever be getting another rabbit.

As for the pet hotel, I’m wor…[Read more]

    Hey all

I’m posting this to see if anyone else has had similar issues and may have a hypothesis as to what may have been causing the issues.

We recently had to say goodbye to our beautiful 2yr 5month old house rabbit named ‘Bunny’. He was a male lionhead/lop mix who in his short life suffered approximately 6-8 episodes of GI stasis.

    His first…[Read more]

Some data would be helpful, in terms of what weights you’re actually getting. Especially if not weighing at the same time of day/around same times relative to food presentation, the presence of food and poop in the GI system can actually impact weight a bit.

I dont think Ive ever noticed the temp on my buns’ faces, but their tongues tend to be very warm when they lick ones’ hands. A fever in a rabbit would most likely make the bun less interested in food though, so its of course great that she is eating and pooping.

At 2 years, a bun tends to become “mature” in the sense that they rest more and binky…[Read more]

There are a lot of vets in Southern CA that have the vaccine thankfully! Not sure if you are in the LA area, but basically all of the VCA hospitals had it last I check, so that could be a good starting point.

Californa is the worst for RVH2 right now. The vaccine should be available there. 40 is too cold for rabbits, anything under 55, and anything over 70 for long periods of time, which would be in this case. Outside is not okay for rabbits. Demosice rabbits are d=very different that wild rabbits are should be housed inside only, they can be brought…[Read more]
