That sounds like a very reasonable price for an exam and spay. I would just ask some questions about how many spays they do, what their “success” rates are, and what after-care they provide.

So, I hate to say it, but the breeder gave you terrible advice! You are pretty lucky that they haven’t seriously hurt each other. I don’t mean to be harsh, I have just seen rabbits first hand that have been injured very badly due to just “putting them in a cage together”.
You should separate them and get your female spayed. Because your female is…[Read more]

I recently got a second rabbit and I have been having some issues bonding them.
My first rabbit, Mister Charlotte is a neutered male who is about 11 months right now. I reccently got a 4 month old un-neutered female rabbit, Caramac. The breeder I got her from said that I should just stick them in the same cage and they will work it out. I…[Read more]

What types of veggies is she getting? And what is her activity level like? Also, is she still on alfalfa pellets?
If she is getting a ton of veggies, I have heard of buns gaining weight on veggies and hay alone, but at her age I don’t think you need to panic.
Since she just turned 1, her metabolic needs have dropped recently since she’s an adult…[Read more]

I have a very important question for experienced rabbit owners: will the buns in a bonded pair still seek me out to cuddle?
It’s a question that’s haunting me and Bas now that we have to think about the future. Shelters refuse to place single rabbits, no matter your circumstances. Not even when I’m always home and the rabbit can sleep in my in…[Read more]

It sounds like she could be having cecal dysbiosis, which can accompany megacolon, or may be it’s own thing. Sometimes buns will alternate between a “wet” and “dry” phase. Have you tried any probiotics with her?

I am deciding between 2 vets, but I know pricing for one vet is $52 for a checkup and $106 for a spay. I don’t know pricing for the other but I know that they both treat/spay exotics.

We started the cuniculi treatment Monday.
I’ve noticed that since this started her poops just mostly seem malformed. Maybe because they come out wet, but just not like they used to be. They used to be really big, which is why the vet said megacolon, but otherwise like bunny poop. Now they just aren’t. Not finding good ways to describe it. They…[Read more]

Everything was going so well in the tub, I decided to just go for it.
They are doing great! I think the extended pre bonding really helped.
Haven’t seen any mutual grooming yet, but plenty of flops.

Sorry for the delay I just started a new job and going back to school plus dealing with these people.

Yes, I know stains take a while to come out! I was more concerned with the fur that was matted and caked with poop but I didn’t want to brush him too much as I know how fragile their skin is. Thank you for the link I will try the dry bath!

Unless you’re seeing some bad gunk build up, stained fur isn’t too bad. As mentioned, it will grow out and sometimes trying to wash it out is simply a losing battle, especially for a new rabbit. If at any time you need to spot-clean for any reason, see here for rabbit-safe ways of cleaning: https://wabbitwiki.com/wiki/Bathing … most rabbits are…[Read more]

Wick & Fable replied to the topic Rehoming my rabbit? Please help! in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 4 years, 9 months ago
A definitive deciding factor is if you cannot find an airline that allows you to have your rabbit with you in the cabin– if you can only travel with your rabbit in cargo, then indeed rehoming is the best choice. In addition to this is actual customs and international travel considerations– does your rabbit need paperwork from veterinarian(s) for…[Read more]

It won’t change their true personalities. But you will notice less hormonal behavior. Sometimes people mistake hormonal behavior for personality, so they think spaying/neutering changes their personality because those hormonal behaviors are no longer there.
And no, I wouldn’t rely on appearances when choosing a vet. Separate waiting rooms aren’t…[Read more]
