You actually said the same thing the vet from today said! This one seems very knowledgeable and has experience treating rabbits with stasis. I asked about bene-bac and they said that it shouldn’t harm her but they’re not sure if it’ll help much. They also said to keep feeding her hay and make sure I have simethicone at home. I was actually told…[Read more]

Sounds like a good plan, her teeth could be involved somehow.

My bun Bama does the same thing! 😂 so cute and funny! Nice to know my bun isn’t the only drama queen around. 😊

@DanaNM
Update: The vet said everything looked great, so we’re going to test for internal parasites and maybe do an x-ray as well.

Thanks for the background! I remember this now from another thread, but couldn’t remember all the details. I do think it might be worth trying some Benebac (you can check with your vet though to make sure it’s OK). When I’ve used the gel that comes in the tube, I’ve given my adult bun about a 1/2 inch long strip, so you could give a small amount…[Read more]

StellaBella started a few weeks ago with these *Dramatic* Litter Box Exits! 🙂
She will get up from eating something and run over to her litter box. When she’s doing her business all the usual activities. She’s found snacking on hay, light grooming, etc. But then, without any warning, she will suddenly jump out of her litter box and start ful…[Read more]

I have not tried any probiotic yet. I will ask my vet today for that. Thanks. That helpful. 🙂
I just wanted to know if bunny has a cecal dysbiosis due to antibiotic, is it normal if he wants to chew many things. I am not letting him to do that right now. Any idea how long should I wait before I see any normal poop?

Sorry! I might be making some things more confusing than they have to be. It’s a bit hard to include all the information because its been so long and so much has happened.
She was never fed pellets. When we got her she was being fed barley and I planned on switching her onto good quality alfalfa pellets never had the chance. She was barely eating…[Read more]

I just want to add that I have used metronidazole twice for a bun that was suspected to have anaerobic bacteria in his gut. There was about 18 months between the two occasions. The prescribing vet is a bunny savvy exotics vet. The problem my bun had was very slimy, mucousy poop, not just soft stools.
There are probiotics that can help the bunny…[Read more]

I wasnt a wasted vet trip, because if a bun hasn’t pooped in 38 hours, its an emergency.
What meds did you get for her?
Did the vet look at her teeth at all? Sometimes when a bun suddenly wont eat as much as it normally does, it’s because of a teeth problem. You cant see the inner teeth of a rabbit without an otoscope, so it’s nothing you can…[Read more]

Hello,
I recently adopted a one year old bunny from the shelter about 2 months ago. And everything was great. I did everything you are supposed to do to have a happy healthy bunny. A week ago, I noticed she wasn’t pooping. She went 38 hours without pooping but she was eating like excited to get her salad. And finished it all every time I fed h…[Read more]

<p style=”text-align: left;”>We had the post op call last night, at around 5pm.</p>
The surgeon was very, very surprised. When they got in there and cleaned out the necrotic bone and ask the pus, they found absolutely no evidence that it was affecting a tooth root at all.Honestly, I was already convinced that a tooth/root want affected, as I…[Read more]

It is possible that the extent of the infection is too much to operate on, but getting some more information would be helpful. Sorry you are dealing with this. 🙁

Thanks for your replies. My vet is a specialist in rabbits and exotic animals. I will pick up Fluffy from an overnight treatment in vet and will further talk to my vet regarding infection and possible outcome.
talk to the shelter is a good suggestion too, thanks. I will do that..
thanks everyone…
