Yes he checked front teeth and molars using an otoscope. It’s great she’s eating hay but I’m worrying she won’t get enough nutrients without pellet. And that strange behavior of being inactive when I’m sleeping is worrying me too since it’s followed in the morning by a batch of small poops

Such lovely pumpkins. I really miss carving them from my time in the US. They’re just so expensive here I can’t justify the cost. Since we’re in a different house this year I wasn’t sure if we’d get trick or treaters. We used to get 30-40 kids at our last place so I bought 3 packs of chocolates as a precaution. We didn’t have a single kid, which…[Read more]

LBJ10 replied to the topic advice and help on my bunny wheezing? in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 4 years, 9 months ago
Depending on how the roots are, the condition may or may not be treatable. Sometimes you just have to treat the symptoms and manage as best you can. The condition in that scenario is chronic. Did the vet confirm tooth roots to be the problem via x-ray?
I do agree with Bam that you should rule out a recurring URI.

ok, me again. Things have been going great the last few days, Friday we did about 3 hours and they at happily and did groom each other. There was a little bit of nipping and grooming standoffs but those were resolved with Buns grooming violet then going to eat more hay and Violet doing he same. The only thing that was new was when Violet was…[Read more]

I’m sorry this is such a rough time for you and Daisy. I don’t have any of the exact same experiences, but I’ve cared for some chronically ill and very sick little buns. It helped me to always remember that we are doing it out of love, and sometimes tough love is necessary. My buns would not be pleased with me during treatment, but afterward I did…[Read more]

That also sounds really positive, especially given the location change-up!
It’s OK and normal (and not a bad thing) to be a little overly cautious in the beginning phases. When they go nose to nose I like to do lots of petting at first to help them think the other is grooming (and sometimes that will lead to them actually grooming each other).…[Read more]

Thanks for the advice Dana.
We did another bonding session today. The location didn’t go as planned and they both accidentally escaped into the semi-neutral lounge when I was trying to get them into the kitchen for the date.
I called my partner and he helped me stage the lounge so it was safe and as neutral as possible while I controlled the…[Read more]

Cuni complete is an extruded pellet, so it weighs roughly half as much as Oxbow pellets do per volume. (I have control weighed these 2 brands against each other). As you are saying, its weight that matters. 2/3 cup is still a lot, though, unless she’s a big rabbit.
Just the other day I read in a Facebook group that Versele Laga has changed the…[Read more]

I only have one anecdotal story – a British bun that was bit by a fox and one of the bite wounds developped into a facial abscess. He was prescribed manukka honey in the wound (the wound had penetrated the cheek so the honey leaked into his mouth, which he apparently appreciated). The owner had to keep the wound open- which was difficult because…[Read more]

Sorry in advance for typos and autocorrects… On mobile and I’m terrible at proof reading.
Nope, we’re not to flush the wound, or dress it. Just apply the medical grade manuka honey twice a day (the email said once, but when I collected Daisy, they said twice) and occasionally give her a wipe around the site before applying more of its gunky.…[Read more]

Mucusy poop is better than no poop! Mucus is somewhat common after stasis. Keep up the supportive care, hopefully she keeps improving!

That sounds like a very positive first date! I think it’s fine to keep going in the same spot, or try a larger space if you want (as long as it’s still neutral). I actually prefer larger spaces and have usually had better luck with them. So feel free to try both and see what seems to work best for your two!

Okay thanks, I was asking if they may still get along because when they were babies they got along and it has only been 5 months. But you answered and that sucks that if I do they wouldn’t already be bonded.

She used to eat about 120 grams of three to four different veggies (it should convert to about 1,5 cups but I’m not entirely sure) plus 40 grams (should be about 2/3 cup) of Versele Laga Cuni Complete Pellet (it’s a European brand approved by vets) which she always ate.
I’m saying used because after the stasis she had loose stool for a while so I…[Read more] -

I’m unsure what you’re asking, but a baby bond is going to occur with any young rabbit involved in the relationship who has yet to be “sexually mature”. Rabbits do not need to be a part of a baby bond to be happy– as long as you are providing attention/care to all rabbits, they will be fine. The risk of fully accepting and planning your daily…[Read more]

Wick & Fable replied to the topic Chance on 3 bunny bond in the forum BONDING 4 years, 9 months ago
There will experiences of trios working and not working– just like with bonding two rabbits, it comes down to personality dynamics, and with a trio, that can statistically be harder since you have more rabbits that need to try and work stuff out. Trio bonding is typically “harder” because it can be less formulaic than duo bonding. You can see…[Read more]

Is it common for adding another bunny to a bond to not work? Has anyone had an experience of this working out or not?
