Unfortunately litter box habits tend to go out the window during bonding, we tend to call them “poop and pee wars”. They are basically marking against the “intruder”. It may not get better until they are fully bonded, but after that they should start to go back to having good habits.

They can definitely be sensitive to certain pellet ingredients, so that sounds like a good plan as well. You might talk to your vet about doing a hay only diet for a little while to try to identify the problem (but important to rule out dental issues before trying that, to make sure they do eat enough hay).

Thanks for your reply! I don’t think the vet checked his teeth when he was in for stasis, he did have them checked way back when he was 6 months and the vet said they looked good. But I will definitely have her give him a little check up and have his teeth looked at when he goes in for his nail trim in about a week or so. His poops are normal…[Read more]

thank you so so much and haha don’t worry! You’re not overwhelming me at all,,it’s just that both of my parents saw that they were fighting and they told me that males shouldn’t live together and that kinda dropped my expectations on bonding them,, but I guess that’s the typical mindset that people have.i mean when I went to the pet store, the…[Read more]

They DO eventually calm down… eventually. Most people don’t wait that long to see if they actually do. LOL The hormonal behaviors are still there once they calm down, they just aren’t as pronounced. Neutering definitely has its benefits… particularly the permanent reduction in hormonal behaviors. Plus, if you want to get your bunny a friend,…[Read more]

So my two youngsters that I’m bonding were housed next to each other at the shelter and they’ve been that way since I brought them home one month ago. My girl was super good about her litter box, the boy not so much which I attributed to his young age. We’ve been bonding for about 3 weeks. Within the last 3 days my girl started peein… -

Welcome to the world of being a poop obsessed bunny parent! I think there are a lot of us here haha.
I think giving a little watery critical care when you notice something is just slightly off is perfectly fine and a great thing to do (I do the exact same thing with my bunnies). The only time I wouldn’t is if you really suspect a severe blockage…[Read more]

For photos, we are still having some issues with the site, but if you add it to your profile (as though you are going to change your profile pic), it should show up in your library, and then you should be able to add it to the post.

Having another rabbit (presumably also un-castrated) will definitely have an effect as well! I’m sure he can smell her in the area, even if she’s not in the same room. I once had some un-neutered rescues in my bathroom overnight, and my bunnies (in the other room) were going NUTS. The furniture thing could be part of it, but probably just a…[Read more]

Thank you. I didn’t know all that. Louie was doing great with the litter box than I moved the furniture around in my room and he went berserk. Lol. Not sure if that is the reason or because we bought what we thought was a pair of baby females than 2 weeks later learned Louie was a he and separated them. Now Coconut is in my sons room next…[Read more]

Hi! I have a little holland lop named Alto hes a bit over one year old. He went into stasis about 2 months ago and I’ve been the poop analyzer even since!! Thank goodness the vet helped him recover, but I have been a little nervous about some of his poops sometimes. The last few days hes had some small poops on and off. I read online this is from…[Read more]

Darker moist poos aren’t the golden standard, but aren’t necessarily bad either. Do the poops tend to have a sheen or smell like onion? Territorial poos can be darker, shinier, and smell.
Personally, my Fable always has dark, less dry poop, but she is healthy and fine and eats hay like a monster.
