I will ask about different medications next time and also mention *all* his issues .
The vets we see are very good. This bun is just extremely gentle and calm compared to other buns. When he bite me, it didn’t even leave a scratch, but for his personality, it’s a hard bite. I didn’t mention him biting; didn’t think it mattered. We went for urgent…[Read more]

Cereal grass is fine for buns!
Barley straw is fine, but straw isn’t food. Hay is food, straw has very little nutritional value and is mostly used as bedding.
Alfalfa is not good for adult buns because it has lots of protein and calcium. Its excellent for young buns up to 6-7 months of age.
Oat hay is fine, but if there is lots of seed heads in…[Read more]

A good tip for when you can’t use ears as a cue is to look at tail position. Relaxed and down is good, pinned up means aggression.
But yeah it’s really expected that they would fight if not in neutral territory, but it’s a good sign they get along through a barrier. Have you done side-swapping?
If you have no neutral space left waiting till you…[Read more]

Thank you!
It’s been so hard cause I feel as though they will do so well. They will try and groom each other thru the gate. Wait for each other to wake up and come out. Binky and zoom when they see each other. But then the two times they’ve been within touching range they’ve fought.
Bear is also hard to read because he doesn’t move his ears.…[Read more]

Oh man, that’s so stressful!
I don’t know that Koda is more fragile necessarily, but I think Bear is just biting to injure when they get in these fights (sometimes in fights the buns are really just nipping or fur pulling, and not biting that hard).
I think your experience in a true bonding session will be different, or at least worth trying. …[Read more]

For my senior I used sheepette, a medical type of faux shearling, on top of washable pee pads (which was a past suggestion from Wick&Fable!). It gives good traction and any pee goes straight through to the pee pads so bun stays dry. I got a couple large pieces and was and rotate once a week or so (more often towards the end of his life when his…[Read more]

I agree that he could be experiencing some pain with being handled. If you aren’t noticing a big difference with the meds it could mean he needs a different dose or dosing schedule. My bun did well on metacam and tramadol once his arthritis got bad.
My senior also experienced an EC flare when he was around 13 that I thought was just worsening…[Read more]

The flannel actually covers the entire area but young bun digs everywhere; every single one is literally in tatters regardless of how thick it was. And, it’s not just edges but everywhere. I actually threw in old tshirt and they both ignore it! No digging or trying to sit on it… very strange.
I LOVE your flooring thing. Seems very plush. Your…[Read more]

If it’s just a one-time incident, she should be able to clean herself. If the fur is stained, even a butt bath isn’t going to get the stain out.

Hmm… well, he could be painful. Or he could just be a cranky old man. My bunny would bite when he wanted to be put down. He pretty much just accepted being handled though in his old age. Maybe he was just too old to fight back at that point. Haha!
