my guess is the vets suspected E cuniculi, which is an intracellular parasite that the rabbit actually can be born with or get from his mother when he’s very young. It’s very common in rabbits, and most rabbits never show any symptoms of illness. Some rabbits do however get sick from it, and paralysis is among the symptoms. Other symptoms can be…[Read more]

I used to buy her orchard hay from our local stable. It was fresh, green and good quality with long strands. It also depends on what quality food your bun is getting, so make sure she’s getting good quality hay. You definitely see a change in litterbox smell!

I used to use puppy pads to line my bun’s litter box and I just snipped the plastic off the sides, so she couldn’t chew it. I almost never used litter, just a puppy pad and orchard hay. The puppy pads that I used to use where ultra-absorbent and made of charcoal. I used to change the litterbox every 2-3 days and there weren’t any odors at all. You…[Read more]

hey everyone, i have two bonded bunnies and I saw this weird looking poop in their litter box I’m not sure who’s it from but it’s just the one the rest and normal. Also they are both eating normally and acting normally. My question is, should i be worried about their health, i have never seen like that red part come out of them before.

A past conversation around this seems to imply it is technically safe: https://binkybunny.com/forums/topic/pumice-stone-block-for-gnawing/
… however, considering how many certainly rabbit-safe chew toys there are out there, even a cardboard scratcher/block, it may be best to stick to what is known to be safe instead of the pumice toy. What each…[Read more] -

From my experience, there may be a level of simply not bothering to get into the litter box anymore. Some of this may be due to arthritis and some of this may be due to not wanting to make the effort. I have a “pee rug” that goes underneath the litter box to catch any misses. They are cheap, so I just throw them away when they are too far gone to…[Read more]

Rabbits get hay dust and particles up their nose all the time. I don’t see how this is different. I agree, if he seems fine now then it was probably just a little nose irritation.

Good ideas! If I were to ever make this and sell it, I might look into a plastic or metal bottom. And I like the idea for biscuits or dowels for the dish holder. For now, I’ll probably stick to wood since I have it readily available, and my bunny (who will be using it), Jumping Jack, is litter trained and hasn’t marked in awhile. I think it’s just…[Read more]

The cause of floppy bunny syndrome isnt known. There is suspicion that it could be due to a selenium deficience or a potassium deficiency. A home remedy used to be to squeeze the contents of a vitamin E capsule into the poorly bun’s mouth, because vitamin E is required for the selenium metabolism and some rabbits can have a vitamin E deficiency. I…[Read more]

Im glad to hear it!
I had a bun who got itchy ears after vaccination. It was quite a long time ago, so it wasn’t the Myxo RHD plus- vaccine, but it was a vaccine against myxo. He got 2 sores inside each of his ears, probably from scratching them. They took a long time (2 weeks) to heal, but they did heal with just normal wound care (I cleaned…[Read more]

You can tell he is trying move around and use his legs he just can’t. He doesn’t seem to be in any pain. For that one corner of the rug, it sounds like that’s where she either likes to pee and/or it’s not fully cleaned there so it’s been deemed a place to mark and go consistently. We need to negotiate a bit with rabbits so simply more boxes in these locations might be needed.
