Keep us posted on how it goes!
It can take some time for the symptoms to improve, so it’s recommended to complete the full course even if you don’t see improvement the first few weeks. And of course discuss this all with your vet before starting any new medications!

Thank you, this has been very reassuring (not in the instance 5hat my fur baby may have suffered with this! But that it may mean another avenue as opposed to a functional problem with her bladder/kidneys). I’ll start trying panacur ASAP- she doesn’t have the other symptoms but it fits more than her suffering with sludge so soon after…[Read more]

Panda looks very cute!
I agree with the others in regards to the sneezing.
I have never tried dried kitchen herbs before for reasons wick mentioned. However, you might like to try some dried forages made specifically for rabbits and other floofs, if you haven’t already. The dried forage pieces such as dandelion, plantain and blackcurrant leaves…[Read more]

That sounds like very good progress!
I think going from bickering to just relaxing and somewhat ignoring each other is a really great sign of progress. Don’t be concerned if in the marathon you notice some cycles of back and forth between bickering phases and ignoring each other phases. I’ve always noticed things can get especially tense in the…[Read more]

I would have the vet give you the dosage for Panacur for sure, it’s usually a very affordable medication!

That sounds good, like you said I can always move them back if they don’t do well in the semi neutral.
I did almost 9 hours with them yesterday! So just like the last long session, they got better as time went on. It took Ruby ~3 hours to chill, probably because again she wanted to sleep. The first 3 hours was a lot of nipping, I had to stop…[Read more]

Fibafirst is kind of rich but half a stick isn’t much. We’d be happy to hear how it goes. If you have access to fresh grass that’s pesticide free, you could substitute maybe half or even a little more of his fresh greens with grass. Grass has the optimum fiber-to-energy-ratio for buns, and this time of year it’s not super nutritious like it is in…[Read more]

DanaNM started the topic Had to move our bunnies into temporary foster, my landlord is awful 🙁 in the forum THE LOUNGE 4 years, 9 months ago
So, this is a very complicated situation that has built up over the course of the whole time we’ve lived here, but the summary version is that our landlord is actually crazy (like some type of serious mental illness, she already told us she had PTSD) and freaked out about some damage from the buns (some surface cosmetic damage to some baseboards… -

I agree with Dana, E cuniculi should be suspected here. It is a parasite that is common in rabbits, they can carry it unsymptomatically all their lives but some do get ill from it. It typically affects the central nervous system or the kidneys. Incontinence is a very common find. Treatment is not pricey, Panacur is a common animal dewormer. As…[Read more]

Thank you, no she hasn’t- but I can purchase panacur and try that alongside anything the vet suggests! I’m not sure if they screened her urine for it, if that is the method for testing for it? They tested forblood and kidney function. We’ve only had courses of 2 different types of anti biotics. I have an appointment booked for tomorrow, but this…[Read more]

Yes, it looks like beads on a string poop, which is typical of a rabbit that has been ingesting fur. This typically happens during molting. You can help the buns by brushing them, because they will obviously get fur in them when they groom each other. Rabbits always ingest some fur and their tummies deal with that, but during molting it can get to…[Read more]

DanaNM replied to the topic Litter box habits of older rabbit in the forum DIET & CARE 4 years, 9 months ago
Ah I see. Yeah it could just be a case of him not really caring about it. My senior (12+) poops in his sleep often, and will occasionally pee outside the box as well.
But I do agree that some daily metacam might help, and a sanitary shave occasionally from the vet will help him keep clean (and may even help him reach his cecals).

I had my rabbit neutered 4 days ago. It was the best choice as he was starting to get very aggressive and territorial. He also started spraying me my stuff around the house as well as my dog. He would chase me . He wasn’t like this the first 7 months he is 9 month now and the hormones are real. They can’t turn the hormones off. You need to use and…[Read more]

Oh yeah, I’ve noticed Yesterday’s News practically turns into concrete when it’s gets saturated.
I have seen some people just use brown paper grocery bags on the bottom of the litter box as a liner.
Using a litter box screen can help with digging as well. I just add a lot of hay on top so it’s softer on their feet.

I had a bun that kept remarking an area of carpet, and if I blocked access she would pee next to the barrier. 🙄
I had been cleaning it with a vinegar solution, and I realized it was starting to smell really strongly of vinegar, so I think she was actually marking because of the vinegar smell. I finally cleaned it really thoroughly with a…[Read more]
