A growing bun should preferably have more protein, but if she doesn’t tolerate alfalfa hay or alfalfa-based pellets, you could perhaps try feeding her a little more pellets? Too much protein can cause stomach upset and sticky poop though, so it’s a fine balance you must strike.

Readigrass is dried fresh grass and has a higher protein content than…[Read more]

Shape can vary a little bit and still be perfectly normal. I think these look good.

everyday my 7 month old lion head produces these pointy and oval shaped poops. He is quite picky but still eats a decent amount. I’d say two large fluffy piles of coarse orchard grass about twice of his body size. There are also regular poops but I see those out of shaped ones more than I’d like to see.

    What do you guys think?

That’s good to hear! I’m glad it isn’t anything that will affect her quality of life.

Hey good call! I just got back from the vet with a little bit of conjunctivitis and scar tissue from the nest eye! Nothing scary she is going to live a long happy life yay.

We’ve been taking a break since their last big session and occasionally doing petting sessions due to health reasons; Zelda is fine. I think she stopped eating her veggies indeed was because I was giving them too often too much for her size but she has started eating them again. Throughout bonding, both of their poops were small and dark — thi…[Read more]

No. The biting doesn’t leave injuries so I just think he’s nipping, although a little too aggressively. I saw that being one of the items you should use but wasn’t sure if it was absolutely necessary. But I may try that whenever we do our long sessions again.

Its been so long since I’ve posted on here!! I remember posting and asking questions almost every week lol. In all seriousness, this was my first bunny and I unfortunately went in with the idea that it was an “easy” pet, so when I actually researched and found out how much a bunny needs, I was overwhelmed. I really want to give a huge thank…[Read more]

    Ok, thank you!

Yes, it is high protein for grass hay but it’s very fresh. The supplier gets it straight from a farmer. I’m weighing her all the time and shes gaining weight consistently.  She was exactly 1kg in Monday which is a huge improvement!

Would 6% protein be enough for her for a while if she eats a lot of the hay?

Oh, I don’t consider the palm plates to be junk food as they are essentially straight fiber. 🙂 I just don’t want to go through them that fast or have them ignore their hay. I order them on Amazon in large packs and they are pretty affordable.

The snak shak is more of the junk food thing because it has some molasses in it. It’s basically…[Read more]

Thanks for your insights and suggestions, Dana! They always have their activity zone, tokihut (not a chew toy but can be chewed), a few boxes (they love a funnel made from the Casper pillow box), and the fling toys that they never touch. Currently on tap we also have a seagrass mat, a plethora of apple wood twigs (not their fave but they decide t…[Read more]
